No Reserve: 28k Mile 1993 Ford F150 XLT

This 1993 Ford F150 is a low mileage example that sports original paint and zero rust thanks to living in Nevada since new. The F150 is also a “Mountain States Limited Edition” model, and there’s not much information posted about this trim line. It seems likely, given the history of manufacturers designating a model sold in the western states with special trim and badges, that this F150 is like any other truck sold on the eastern seaboard, just with zero rust, some badges, and of course, just 28,000 original miles. Find the F150 here on eBay in a no reserve auction with bidding up to $16,599.

The F150 is a long-bed, single cab model with laser-straight body panels and nicely preserved chrome bumpers and wheels. The seller notes the bed still looks like new inside, providing further evidence that this truck wasn’t exactly used like a truck. The bed has a rubber liner inside, and photos some gleaming red paint underneath. Some paint chips are noted, but that’s the biggest flaw the seller can seemingly find. Although we can’t see them clearly here, the fenders sport badges denoting this F150 as a Mountain States edition, but aside from the cosmetic tweaks, I can’t find any info confirming if there were any upgrades to the drivetrain.

The interior is in excellent condition, albeit slightly low-rent in terms of what Ford was offering for standard features in those days. Granted, pickup trucks might be more affordable if consumers hadn’t gotten in the habit of loading them up with leather, infotainment systems, and powered sidesteps, but I digress. In fact, for a specimen with mileage this low, you actually could use this F150 every day for years with far less equipment at risk of failing, and for a much lower price than a comparative new F150 would run you at the dealer. I believe the Mountain State edition trucks also got embroidered floormats, but I don’t see those here.

The engine bay looks brand new under the hood, and small details – like the factory sticker and labels, the hood brackets, and hoses – all still present as-new. The seller notes that the 5.0L V8 runs well and that the automatic transmission shifts with no issues. Four wheel drives engages seamlessly as well, and there are no leaks to speak of. While I’m sure the current bid reflects its once-in-a-lifetime condition, I also wouldn’t feel badly about using this F150 as a weekly driver. It will likely always be worth a decent amount with anything under 40,000 miles, and it will take quite some time to rack up that sort of mileage if used strictly for sunny day chores.

It makes my skin crawl when flippers use the people they just duped as props in the car listings.

How do you know he’s a flipper?

        Hmmm… let’s see

There’s the ALL CAPS ebay listing full of hyperbole.
Then there’s the seller’s ebay history littered with car listings.

Do you think the guy in the PJs (who’s name is still on the Title BTW) knew that his picture would be used to market the car? Of course not. The flipper posed as a collector or an enthusiast or a needy truck buyer (like they always do) and conned the guy out of his truck.

When the Ebay description reads “YOU ARE BIDDING ON A RARE ONCE IN A LIFE TIME NO RESERVE AUCTION” in all caps, you know it’s a flipper.

Because he used the owner ( or maybe just an old guy ) as a prop in the pic. I’m assuming they think someone will believe their stories if they should an old person standing next to the car they just got talked out of .

It was probably offered with the 4.9L (?) Inline 6 stock.

My 91 XLT Regular Cab, Long Bed Lariat 5.0 is nice but this engine compartment is sick.

Several 1 owner trucks posted with so called original owners. Really.

Jeff – the Mountain States Limited Edition is just a badge on the fender – nothing more. We had the ‘Sun State Edition’ here in AZ in the same era.

Yep. Here in New York State we had “The Salt-Spreader Edition”. It came with pre-drilled holes in the floor and fenders.

Why do people think their stuff is worth sooo much $???

At the start of Covid I got an 2008 F-350 4×4 turbo diesel off of a lot for way less.

    Shop around, it pays!

Good luck with that 6.4 engine. That’s why you got a good deal that one of the years people need to steer clear from. 6.0 is much better or spend more money and buy a 6.7

Not so. The 6.0 was the bad one. 6.4 came out in 2008. This one runs like a top and I have car fax history.

        No issues or problems.

It will pull a house down and rides smooth as silk.

Considering a new one similar to this will set you back around 40 grand , I don’t believe the price is out of line .

Other than the aftermarket battery, the engine compartment could be a reference standard for restorations. I hope the buyer leaves it as is.

The “belly-button” mask is also a nice preventive measure. Can’t be too careful nowadays.

Wearing a mask. Does he think he will get COVID-19 from the truck?

Try saying that it’s a “lie” to my 88 year old uncle who had it. It is no joke.

Flipper or not, this F150 is a beauty. It’s nice to see a pickup is such a sharp color. I own a ’95 F150 XLT 2WD, short bed, with the 302 and a 5-speed stick. I bought it in ’99, got into a wreck(red light runner) in 2008 and parked it for 11 years. Got it back on the road last year after a lot of work and and more money than I care to admit to but of all the pickups I’ve owned, it was my favorite. Still not done but I’m getting there and intend to finish. What the hell, I’ve got so much time and money into it I might as well keep going. Glad I brought it back, still cheaper than a new one and I don’t like any of the Ford pickups after ’96 anyway. Still think the ’92 to ’96 pickups were the best looking pickups Ford ever made and I’ve had a few since my first Ford pickup, a ’72 short bed with the 302 and three-on-the-tree. I’ve got everything working now and I love the color; Bimini Blue with a blue interior. It’s my daily driver and I’ll keep it until they plant me.

Nice-looking truck. You should be proud of it!

Yeah, I honestly don’t think anyone has manufactured a decent pickup since 1996. They have all gotten far too huge and bloated since then.

    Here’s a picture of the ’96 (351/auto) that I bought to move cross-country with.
    I sold it about a year and a half ago,for $5500.
    Should have kept it.

I had one of these 302 ,5spd, short bed, rode great, would pull stumps, but wouldn’t pass a gas station, 12mpg. Now I know why it has 2 gas tanks! Really hated to sell, but rust in 3 different spots said go!
