This 2002 Pontiac Trans Am is a limited edition model with just 317 original miles on the clock. Known as the Collector’s Edition, it featured Collector Yellow paint with a black leather interior, and in convertible form, a blacktop. The Trans Am also came with the full WS6 performance and handling packages which included the black painted wheels seen here. This is effectively the same as buying a new car, and more details can be found here on eBay.

The seller has listed the Trans Am for sale as a reserve price auction, which currently is around $25K with the reserve unmet. The odometer confirms the low mileage here, but really, you don’t have to look too far to see all the evidence you need that this is effectively a new-in-the-wrapper Trans Am. The Collector’s Edition came with special graphics and the full assortment of branded items, from the floor mats the owner’s portfolio.

The interior is in fantastic condition, and this example is fitted with the automatic transmission. You could also opt for the manual with optional Hurst short-throw shifter, which I imagine would push the value even higher. The Collector’s Edition model was limited to just under 2,000 cars, so not many were made – but whether the features make it truly collectible is a matter of opinion. The Christmas tree air freshener looks terribly out of place here.

The performance is still what sets these cars apart, with the LS1 5.7L V8 providing a healthy 325 b.h.p. and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. The additional handling enhancements courtesy of the WS6 package help make this car an all-rounder, but I doubt its performance will ever be fully exploited given it’s just going from one cocoon to another. Buying a car simply to store will never be a life goal for me, but you may feel differently. Would you buy one to preserve or to drive?
