This car is so clean you could eat off any part of it, including the engine compartment. The Corvette is reported to have 48,000 original miles and been in the same family since the early 1980’s. The car is being sold here on Craigslist by a dealer. The car is located in Springfield, Missouri but spent most of its life in Oklahoma. The seller is asking at $22,995 and the car has been listed for about a month.
I told you the engine is clean! This Corvette is equipped with its original L-48 350 cubic inch V8 engine and automatic transmission. The L-48 was the base engine for the Corvette in 1977 and was rated at 180 horsepower. The designation for the L-48 engine on the VIN is an “L” in the 5th digit. The optional engine for 1977 was the L-82 350 cubic inch V8 engine. It was rated at 210 horsepower. Both engines were available with an automatic or 4 speed manual transmission except in California. The designation for the L-82 engine on the VIN is an “X” in the 5th digit.
This car must be rare because it has a dark brown cloth interior to go with the orange exterior. It is equipped with factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, cruise control and the tilt/telescopic steering wheel. The original AM/FM 8 track stereo radio resides in the dash and the Corvette even has a rear defrost. The picture below shows the luggage racks being used to hold the T-Top panels.
The factory aluminum rally wheels have been polished which really makes the car pop along with new tires. The recent mechanical work done to this Corvette includes brake work, a new radiator, new shocks and u-joint. The seller even has the original dealer invoice and maintenance records for this striking car. If orange is your color, I don’t think you will find a cleaner car than this.
There were over 49,000 Corvettes manufactured in 1977. There are still plenty of clean ones left. I would prefer the 5 speed like this one has.

Damn! That is also a fine looking example. Further proof that one should never be in a hurry to buy a Corvette. There are a lot of nice ones out there.
Fat fingers!!! Should read 4 speed.
It’s an automatic.
Another great looking Corvette with a sweet color combo and rare cloth seats. Plus the much-maligned luggage rack is being used as intended by one of the 16,860 folks smart enough to order RPO V54.
And now the bad news- As clean as it is it will still take a highly-motivated buyer to spend $23,000 on an L-48, automatic. There is a lot of Corvette performance available in the $25,000 neighborhood. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
That is too much money for an L48 automatic. Boring. Great colors. Excellent detailing under the hood. These cars sell from about $10,000 and up. I have a 73 coupe 4 speed in very good condition and was offered $12,000. I have $20,000 in the car. Refused the offer.
Seventy three was the most productive year of the ’68-’73. But at least you have chrome rear bumpers. Unless a convertible & 4sp, I wouldn’t buy a ’74 & up. Had a ’70 350/350, 4sp Marlboro maroon/black int & rag top for 19yrs. Also a ’78 silver Ann 2 tone silver for 2 yrs, but having had the ’70, no comparison at all.
You know what it is. SOS same old story. Got Ya 😊
Looks like Dirk Diggler’s Corvette from “Boogie Nights”.
