This 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Brickyard 400 pace car was stored at a Chevrolet dealership for 23 years. That contributes to the incredibly low mileage, 700 miles on the odometer. The asking price is $14,500 and it is located near Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. The car has been well maintained and has the original build sheet. It is car 61 of 400. Thank you Ian C. for the tip. Engine wise, it is a standard Z34 car. Those have a 3.4 liter, 210 cubic inch dual overhead cam V6. Back then it was good for 215 horsepower. The four speed automatic transmission would put down the 220 foot pounds of torque. It certainly did not make the same power as its NASCAR counterparts, which for 1995, was the when the Chevrolet decided to have the Monte Carlo replace the Lumina in the sport.
There are two photos of the interior. One is of the seat back with the Brickyard 400 logo. The other is of a floor mat, this one with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway logo. It does have a brown, what looks to be leather interior with tan carpeting and accents. That compliments the white exterior well, even with the purple accents. This car is a 90’s throwback, a perfect tribute to the styles and colors if there ever was one.
The Brickyard option was an additional $2,195 over the sticker price of $18,970. The ad states that the price has been reduced, which might be true. Either way, it seems to be a potential collector car, with a current asking value still at 68% of its original value. While this might be a rare case, with such low miles, and not exactly a desirable body style, give it another 8 years, and this will start to matter to someone.
Loved my ’01 & wish I would’ve been able to keep it. Never thought much of this bodystyle. At least they don’t want $75,000 for it.
I had a ‘96 Z34. Very comfortable highway car and handled incredibly well for a front wheel drive. Easiest cold air intake I ever “fabricated” as well. I found some surplus military forklift canister style air filter and it pipe-clamped right in place of the stock air box. Another thing I remember is that plastic engine decoration thing had legs that clicked in somewhere to keep it in place. The legs distorted over time until I threw the plastic piece away because it would no longer stay put.
Not my kind of car, but at least it was handsome. The MC that debuted in 2000 was heinous.
I’d be surprised if everyone that bought one of these as an investment and still has it sitting in their garage with next to no miles regrets it. Those that don’t regret it probably haven’t checked prices.

I could do the old “if they put the purchase price into a mutual fund in 1995 instead” thing here but I will save everybody the hard tears. Look it up if you really want to know. You probably don’t.
Looks like a decent deal to me. I would drive it.
Plus when you compare it to the other new cars priced under $15k, I would chose this every time.
( I did check, you can but a new car at that price, but I would rather be kicked in the sack by a horse than be seen in any of them)
Nice find, the various ‘pace cars’ have always appealed to me, but I don’t think I could ever drive something so flashy. In this case, I think it would take a hard core NASCAR fan to pony up this sort of money… I don’t think these Montes are on too many bucket lists, especially at this price.
Indy 500 Pace Cars…never seen but a couple by GM that wasn’t tacky. Yes even the vast majority of Corvette ones are hideously trashy. Sorry, uninspired body and underwhelming execution. But GM seemed to specialize in that up until Ed Welburn took over. Not to say they didn’t have some rigs I didn’t like, but they were the anomaly. And they still seemed to cut corners in the worst places- the Alloytec V6 drain back/timing chain issue? $5 re-design fix would’ve kept it from happening. The 6T75E transaxle with the ‘stuck solenoid’ issue which is $2k to fix or just toss the car…when a slightly better valve body design would keep that from happening. But, it’s “Generous Maintenace,” so Toyota, Honda, Hyundai & KIA will be able to take more & more of their market share
At least the location is good.
