287 Miles: 1977 Bradley GT

Kit cars have always been fascinating to us. You can get supercar looks, common and cheap components, and featherweight handling. At the same time, their underpinnings tend to be rather bland. If you are good at tuning VW Beetles, kit cars can actually be blasts to own though. The only major issue is that most are based on high mileage cars with more miles added once completed. Well, this 1977 Bradley GT Listed here on craigslist Phoenix, Arizona has only seen 287 miles, at least that’s what the seller claims. They are asking $8,000 for it, which seems high for one of these. The seller also claims it is a barn find, but the dusty appearance could back that statement up. Are you looking for a “new” 1977 Bradley GT?

'77 Bradley GT

There is very little information provided within the craigslist ad.  If we were interested we would like to know what year the pan is, what engine is in it, how often is it run, does the engine spin and any ownership history that might back up the mileage claim.

GT1

It looks clean except for a few bits of debris on the carpets and seats and the dusty boot.

GT2

287 miles on the odometer as stated in the ad. With 2K showing on the tachometer, is she started weekly? Let’s hope so.

GT4

Last registered in 1978. How many, if any, are out there with less than 300 miles on the build? Of course, this is not necessarily how many miles are on the engine and the pan, just the kit. There are a lot of the questions a buyer will want to ask about this one. This GT could be lots of fun if there isn’t much, if any, work to be done to get it cruising again.

Cheers,
Robert

Sure looks nice in silver! I know that some came with motorized headlamps but it looks like the ones on this car seem to be controlled with the red-handled lever under the dash (more long-term?).

Going by the running gear (4 bolt wheels, flat throttle pedal) the donor can’t have been more than 10 years old in 1977.

Those kits were ugly then and nothing has changed

I’m guessing that with the heater levers on either side of the E brake, probably a 67 or 68 Beetle donor. In Phoenix with no A/C I can see the low mileage.
