The ’72 Suburban has a neatly done interior.  There are 84,200 original miles on this 3/4 ton rig, which has A/C! This is what is referred to as a “3-door”. There is one door on the driver’s side and two on the passenger’s side. As per the seller, the paint and body are in good condition.

1959 Field and Stream

The 14′ Field & Stream has a matching paint scheme to the ’72 Suburban. The interior has been restored and look comfortable with a full size bed and a converting table.

There is a small kitchen area including a sink, stove and icebox. There is no restroom in it though, so keep that issue in mind.

The seller says that there are some small cosmetic repairs needed on the Suburban as in some window trim and others.  The seller suggests that this rig is perfect for camping, surfing at the beach (where else?), tailgating and family sports tournaments. What about car shows, races, and club events? The seller wants: no trades, no low-ball offers and serious inquires only. Are you ready to hit the road pulling this Field & Stream?

Motor-on,
Robert

I didn’t know they made a 3 door. I wonder what was the reason?

I do not remember, but we covered it here before. Some body will tell us. Maybe for passenger safety? These trucks were highly sought after for a while, I am not sure about the status now. I feel his price is too high though.

3 doors, so passengers could only exit on the curb side.

Wow, does this hit a nerve. This is the exact setup my parents had when we were kids. Pulling a camper with a Chevy Suburban. 1st, the old man had wagons to pull trailers ( with terrible results), then switched to an IH Travelall, even worse, then Suburbans, much better. This was marketed as the biggest station wagon you could get, and the 3rd door was indeed a safety feature, so passengers wouldn’t exit the driver’s side. Camper tire looks a little low ( a constant problem when we pulled trailers) We saw a lot of America thanks to this setup, and I only hope the next owner does the same thing. Great find, but don’t forget the gas card, you’ll use it,,,a lot.

Suburbans with 3 doors were designed for school bus use in rural areas. In order to make sure kids wouldn’t get out in traffic (like there’s much in rural areas ) it had only a rear door on the curbside.

ALL Suburbans 67-72 were 3-doors…not an option.
