Bargain Alert: 1966 Ford Country Squire

1966 Ford Country Squire

How did we miss this one? This 1966 Ford Country Squire needs a lot of help, but it looks pretty good considering the fact that bidding is only up to $3,350 with only 2 hours left! The white paint looks great with the faux wood grain and the blue interior adds a nice splash of color. This is a nicely outfitted wagon too; 390-4v V8, automatic, power brakes, power steering, air conditioning, and a third row seat. I think I’m in love! In fact, if this thing weren’t on the other side of the country, I wouldn’t be telling you guys about it. There’s a little rust and it needs some work done before it can be driven safely, but it looks like a great start to me. It’s located in Wytheville, Virginia and is listed here on eBay. This could end being a bargain barge, but you’d better move quick!

Great wagon, but be careful. Full sized Ford’s from this era are notorious for frame rust, Even ones with good bodies can have trailing arms that are rusted off and also frame rot over the rear wheels/axel. But when they are good, great cars

Looks like bidding is already going up. Perhaps it won’t be the bargain I’d hoped for…

This is the one that carried me across the country as a 9 year old kid- except ours was the medium blue country sedan. My dad took great pride that it was special ordered with the “Country Squire” interior package. It was advertised as “quieter than a Rolls Royce”. Not having ridden in a Rolls at 9, didn’t know for sure, but knew it was a lot quieter than the salmon ’57 wagon we traded in.

We have some really nice wagons down here in California. I just sent in pics and links to a 390 ’66 for $2800 on Craigslist. There’s also a red on red 1967 with a Z code 390 asking $7500

I can picture a whole bunch of cub scouts jumping out of this thing yelling like Indians and one beleaguered scout leader just glad the trip is over.

My neighbor had a new 67 Ford Big Wagon with the 427 or 428?? He would reg. blow off many “muscle cars ” of the times. Another neighbor had the priestess 67 Fairlaine Red-White GT 390 Convert Auto. * And the prettiest- coolest Blond haired wife* *** STILL very pretty at about 80– NEVER guess her age** ( Ya shes still says FAR OUT-BOMB) That guy did everything to beat that dark blue wagon. He got so mad, all the tricks he did to that car never touched that wagon. AS far as I remember that big Ford never lost a race on Skyline Dr that turned into a highway.. Sid was a hard core Ford man (Who built his “toys”) but ended up with a new little Dodge pick up in the end. ( PS Sid also drove with Gordon Johncock on a small oval before any one know who G J was)… YES, G J won a LOT… Sid said he always had the very best qquipment!.
