UPDATE – The seller has reduced their asking price!
Available exclusively through Barn Finds, this represents a rare chance to own a nearly stock survivor that’s spent its entire life in Southern California. The seller has owned it since 1995, and it’s been kept away from harsh weather and road salt, which has helped preserve its solid condition.

According to the seller, the truck was all original when purchased from the original owner nearly thirty years ago. The paint had faded over time, so in 2019, it was refinished using a factory-correct color from the original paint catalog. The goal was to keep it true to its roots while giving it a fresh appearance without straying from its heritage. Powering the F-100 is a rebuilt 292-cubic-inch Y-block V8, paired with a rebuilt Ford Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. The seller has put about 1,000 miles on it since the rebuild, just enough to break it in. The carburetor has also been rebuilt, and while the original oil bath cleaner didn’t fit quite right, a modern paper filter has been installed for better function. The original oil bath setup will be included with the sale.

Inside, the truck retains its original charm. The seller believes it to be a Custom Cab model, though part of the identification sticker is worn away. Impressively, all gauges and switches work, and even the factory radio and heater are operational. The heater core was replaced and improved, while cooling is handled the old-fashioned way—a working vintage swamp cooler that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It’s included in the sale along with extra hubcaps, an additional front grille, and several boxes of small original and aftermarket parts.

A vintage short-bed camper shell is also included. The seller found it in rough condition but rebuilt it to be sturdy, watertight, and period-correct, perfect for keeping tools or personal items secure. As for improvements, the seller suggests that the drum brake system could benefit from an update to modern dual-reservoir safety standards. The seat still wears its original upholstery beneath a quality cover, and the tires hold air but could use replacement due to age. Despite its age, the truck is said to start easily, run strong, and cruise comfortably at around 60 to 65 mph.

This F-100 stands out as an honest, largely unmodified classic with a freshly rebuilt drivetrain, clean title, and genuine history. It’s ideal for someone who wants a reliable, character-filled pickup that remains close to how Ford built it more than sixty years ago. Would you keep this F-100 bone stock—or upgrade the brakes and enjoy it as a weekend driver?

Beautiful old rig with some cool custom touches.
💯
Good heavens, someone had some time on their hands, that and a collection of gee-gaws and swap meet trinkets the late Frank Fritz would be proud of. West Coast mirrors,,,nice. While the truck may have been original when they got it,, all this stuff was added by the present owner, and I love it! What ever happened to this kind of creativity? Not silly wheels or Pro Stock motors, everything here has a purpose. Pretty cool.
HoA: I wish you hadn’t taken my avatar!
As usual your view is spot on. But you have to give it to the present owner, it’s pretty sweet if a bit overdone for practical purposes.
The original paint job would have served a more useful purpose imho
Great answers Howard.. The extra lights and topper make this truck a fantastic weekend work horse and a conversation starter at C&C..
Good looking truck brings me back to my youth at 12 learning how to drive on a 1963 with an I6 and 3 on the tree same color. Later in my late teens I bought a 65, 352, granny gear 4 speed, 4 wheel drive, great trucks same color as this one. Great listing, would like to see a few under hood pictures, and pictures of the receipts for the engine work would go a long way to boost your sale.
I agree that some photos of the 292 Y block might add to sale. This does look to be a custom cab with all the stainless trim. The VIN plate appears to be a reproduction of original. I have the last year of this third series F-100, a 66 basic model that came with a 6 cylinder, but previous owner replaced it with a Mustang 302 HO and AOD transmission. I am jealous that he has a rare working original AM radio. Someone cut the radio hole in the dash to a large rectangle in my truck. This truck is the last year for the typical solid front axle. In 65 they have Twin I Beam.
Bone stock grampa truck. Love it!
One of the greatest trucks ever made the F-100
What a super find! I would love to have it. It will be interesting to see what it will take to buy it? The first thing I would do with it, is nothing! I would just try to take it all in for a while until I made a changes or modifications. It is a show stopper the way it is. Go slow and don’t FIU!
I’m so old that when I looked at the hood ornament I said, “OK, a six.” Either the engine or the hood ornament were swapped out ’cause the V-8 engined trucks had the “V” emblem shown in the extra stuff pix. Granted, the one installed is in better condition, but it ain’t the right one!
Quick! More nits! I’m in a nit-pickin’ mood!
Had a original 59 F100, but the suspension was too weak for my original 1960s slide-in camper. Does this one have the camper option with the reinforced suspension?
This is listed again at the reasonable ask of $9,500, the same that I paid for my 66 F-100 pickup six years ago. This one has the straight axle as the Twin I Beam came out in 65. Not everyone likes that complication. Look at all the extras that come with it too.
