Some classics represent a triumph of style over substance, but no such criticism can be leveled against this 1965 Factory Five Cobra Mk 4. Beneath its stunning exterior lies a 427ci V8, ensuring it delivers awesome performance. It captures the true character of an original Cobra, but does so at a fraction of the price. The owner has decided that the time is right for this classic to find a new home, listing the Mk 4 exclusively with us at Barn Finds Auctions.

Founded in 1995, Factory Five, located in Wareham, Massachusetts, has developed a reputation for creating exquisite replicas of some of motoring history’s most desirable vehicles. The Mk 4 is no exception, with its panel fit confirming the company’s eye for detail. This car retains the hallmarks of the original Cobra, from its chrome three-point roll-over hoop to the side exhaust and the knock-off wheels. Its panels are laser-straight, cloaked in Black paint, with a mirror-like shine. A combination of Silver and Red stripes adds a striking touch to the exterior, guaranteeing that this Cobra turns heads and draws crowds. The body rests on a jig-welded, powder-coated frame constructed of 4″ round tube, ensuring excellent torsional rigidity. This is a car whose suspension soaks up bumps and controls handling without twisting or flexing. The sparkling trim perfectly contrasts the dark paint shade, the glass is clear, and the halogen headlights will turn night into day. However, this Mk 4 is more than a pretty face, possessing a drivetrain that will gladden the hearts of those seeking a high-performance classic.

Tilting the hood forward reveals a 427ci V8. It inhales deeply through a Holley 750cfm Ultra Double Pumper carburetor, while the Hyfire electronic ignition delivers a strong spark to ignite the mixture. The spent gases exit via stainless steel headers and a matching dual side exhaust, and an aluminum radiator effectively controls the V8’s temperature. The power feeds to an 8.8″ Ford rear end via a five-speed Tremec manual transmission. Combine the car’s low curb weight with a mountain of power and torque, and this Mk 4 will command respect wherever it goes. It is a complete package, featuring tubular suspension arms, adjustable coil-overs on all corners, and legendary Wilwood disc brakes. There is no doubt that this Cobra possesses the handling and stopping power to match its engine performance.

As befits a car of this caliber, the Cobra’s interior is undeniably purposeful. Its dash features a brace of electric Ultra-Lite gauges to monitor the vehicle’s mechanical health. The timber sports wheel provides a comfortable means of controlling this classic, while the bucket seats are finished in luxurious Black leather. This Mk 4 would generate significant g-forces, but the five-point Simpson harnesses will hold occupants firmly in place during hard cornering. Finding anything to criticise about the interior is seemingly impossible. There is no wear on the seats, wheel, or carpet. The gauges appear perfect, and while it isn’t fitted with items like a stereo or power accessories, it remains true to the original Cobra’s philosophy of focusing exclusively on outright performance.

Some classics blend into the background like automotive chameleons, while others stand out, demanding to be noticed. This 1965 Factory Five Cobra Mk 4 undoubtedly falls into the latter category, while its mechanical specifications ensure it delivers the performance to satisfy even the most hardened enthusiast. A genuine ’65 Cobra could command a seven-figure sale price, but this one will cost you a fraction of the price. That is why it deserves more than a passing glance and is worthy of serious consideration.

A high quality Cobra replica is very high on my automobile bucket list. Whether I’d go with an old school engine or a modern Coyote are the main questions.
This Factory Five, especially with the high performance brakes, certainly suits the bill.
Not now but will hope to be looking within a year.

For the deep-pocketed enthusiast who has owned everything and needs another toy, garage space is required.

I’ve been lucky enough to drive one of these Cobras – very nice, fast yes but just watch your leg when exiting.

      That’s called a “snake bite”!

Great looking car and hope the auction goes well. FFR is a great company with race proven design. Been to their factory numerous times and they run a great operation.

Usually in June they have an open house and it’s a great time to check out their operation if you are in the Wareham, MA area. I’m sure you can also arrange a tour of the factory with an appointment as well.

How does a company constituted in 1995 build a 1965 model car?

This COBRA and ZR-1 Corvette on the same day? WTF? I guess I’m gonna need to get one of those multi-level storage racks delivered and set-up soon.

This writeup reads like a real estate ad.
    Bloated language -a “timber” wheel?
    Just the facts, ma’am.

I don’t use the term “bucket list” often as I believe that it is way over-used, I will in this case.
This little jewel is as close to being perfect as an automobile can get for me. The color, the tire/wheel combo, the engine, the stance, everything. If there is anything out there that would tempt me to sell a Corvette that I have had for 26 years it would be this.
No top, no problem, I live in southern Arizona. Too unconventual, again no problem, I only put less than 1,000 miles a year on my current toy. In all reality, the only reason that I probably won’t is the fact that I just don’t think that this old body has enough miles left on it to take on another “forever car”, but boy do I wish that weren’t the case.

If I bought this [104 miles on the clock], would I drive it or put it up on blocks for posterity? I am a believer in driving them till they drop, and besides, for some of us, posterity isnt that far off.
