UPDATE – The seller has added a walk-around and start-up video!

This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro is more than a pretty face. The upgraded V8 under the hood provides the power that an iconic pony car deserves. It presents exceptionally well, and with a refreshed interior, it has much to offer a new owner. A new owner is the aim of the exercise, because the time has come for this turnkey classic to head to greener pastures. Therefore, the owner has listed the Camaro exclusively with us at Barn Finds Auctions.

The owner describes this Camaro as having sexy curves, and few phrases are more appropriate to describe its styling. Chevrolet may have been late to the pony car party when it launched the Camaro in 1967, but its offering proved a worthy adversary to Ford’s all-conquering Mustang. A healthy first-year sales tally of 220,906 vehicles rose to 235,147 in 1968, cementing the Camaro’s place in the new car market. This car emerged that year, and it can’t help but turn heads in its current form. From its arrow-straight panels to the freshly buffed Matador Red paint, there is much to like about its appearance. The White stripes adorning the hood and trunk lid add to the appeal, as do the spoilers at both ends. Finding anything to criticize seems impossible, as this car presents superbly. Rust isn’t an issue because this classic is as solid as the day it left the Los Angeles line. It is an aggressive-looking car, an impression heightened by the American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. However, this is a case where the looks don’t flatter to deceive.

The fender badges may say “327,” but lifting this Camaro’s hood reveals Chevrolet’s legendary 350ci V8. The 327 would have placed 210hp at the driver’s disposal, meaning that even in unmolested form, the 350 offered a welcome performance boost. However, this motor takes that to a higher level, courtesy of the aluminum Edelbrock Performer cylinder heads, the carburetor from the same manufacturer, and a set of headers. Improved breathing is the best way to unleash more power, and this small-block ticks that box. Power feeds to the road via a four-speed Muncie manual transmission, a combination that should provide years of reliable service. The owner recently treated the Camaro to a tune-up, ensuring that it is in excellent mechanical condition. The winning bidder could fly in and drive this beauty home, confident that the car will complete the journey without a problem.

A recent refresh has left this Camaro’s interior looking pretty impressive. Trimmed in Black vinyl, the condition is ideal for enthusiasts seeking a high-end driver. It is missing the passenger-side armrest, but not only are replacements easy to find, but they’re dirt-cheap. There is no wear or other issues requiring attention, with the dash, pad, and console worthy of particular mention. They look exceptional, free from the scratches and UV damage that often accumulate with age. The dash houses the iconic Tick-Tock-Tach, and the console features the Rally gauge cluster. The Grant wheel should be comfortable on long journeys, and the Alpine radio/cassette player feeds Sony speakers mounted in the kick panels and the rear parcel tray.

This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro may not be original, but the mechanical upgrades should provide a rewarding and entertaining driving experience. The builder performed their work following a sensible path, using bulletproof components that promise years of reliable service and straightforward maintenance. Its presentation is first-rate, and the fresh interior is the icing on the cake. If you crave a First Generation pony car but find the prospect of a project build daunting, this Camaro deserves a closer look. After all, the hard work is already done. All you need to do is slip behind the wheel and set your sights on the horizon. This classic will do the rest.

Something this seller could do is clean up the engine bay, it’d make a world of difference

I couldn’t agree more. It strikes me as odd that the owner wouldn’t have spent a couple of hours or a $100 to spice up the engine compartment.

I assume the “3 speed manual ” in the description is an error. The write up says 4 speed and the shifter has a 4 speed pattern.
I agree that a clean engine bay would increase the appeal. If you spent the money on those aluminum heads, show them off.

Nothing looks worse to me than oversized rims on a classic muscle car. Lose the rims and the bootleg Supers Sport logos. The Z28 stripes look good for a driver. Other than the wheels and tires this car looks good.

Compared to some I’ve seen, these aren’t too bad. I have never cared for the looks of this style wheel, Rally’s would look a 100x better, but is could be worse.

Nice driver quality Camaro…until you open the hood! You would think a dealer could detail a car better than this. And what a hack job on the stereo installation!

Oof. Great looking car, not original, so why complain? I agree itd look better with Ralleys and the appropriate SS stripes to me, but to each his own. Gotta agree though with the hood open it looks like lipstick on a pig. But if somebody gets a deal on it for that reason that’s easy to remedy.

Hey Chevy guy, don’t bother! There’s a couple guys in here that EVERY TIME there’s a car with updated wheels they cry about it. ANY custom upgrades that came out after 1975 are bashed. It gets old fast. You can find the “clown wheels” comment around 700,000 times from the same few. I usually don’t even read the comments anymore. Anywho…. cool car.
