We’ve featured some great-looking trucks over the years, but this might be one of the best we’ve ever seen! The seller of this Dodge Power Wagon Adventurer Shortbed 4×4 is its second owner and has enjoyed driving it over the past few years. They’ve decided it’s time to let someone new enjoy this low-mileage truck, though, so they’ve listed it with us as a Barn Finds Auction.

This is one well-optioned Adventurer! In addition to being a short bed 4×4, it’s equipped with the 440 V8, automatic transmission, Air conditioning, cruise control, front disc brakes, and that awesome multi-tone paint scheme. The seller has taken it on multiple long-distance trips, and it tracks down the road nicely, rides comfortably, and has been very dependable.

Dodge offered several engine options in the W-series of trucks, ranging from the slant-six up to the 440 V8. This example’s 440 is in good running condition and fully serviced. The seller is confident that the 58,934 miles shown are accurate and original. Work performed since the seller purchased includes a new distributor, plugs and wires, belts and hoses, valve cover gaskets, alternator, battery, rebuilt starter, and Edelbrock 1406 Carb. It’s also received a full transmission service, and the brake system has been rebuilt, including all new lines. It has been regularly serviced and is ready to drive!

Other work during the seller’s ownership has included installing new seat upholstery, rubber floor covering, floor insulation, a new stereo system, KC roll-bar lights, auxiliary gauges, and an accessory control panel for the lights. Everything is said to work except for the A/C. The system is complete but will need to be serviced. The speedometer indicator needle is also broken. The gauge still works, but a replacement needle will need to be installed to gauge speed accurately. A replacement needle is included with the truck.

The seller has provided many underside photos, and this truck looks almost as good underneath as it is on top! It appears that the shocks were replaced not long ago and are Bilsteins.

Talk about a sharp-looking truck. Clearly, the original owner cherished it, especially if those Wyoming mud flaps indicate where it originally hailed from. Between the colors, condition, and options, you really can’t get much better than this Adventurer! So, if you are ready to hit the road in this muscle 4×4, be sure to cast your high bid. Leave any questions you have for the seller in the comments, and take a look at all 145 photos below!

Sweet truck! Just when I think I’ve seen it all with the Warlock 440 & we have seen a similar truck with a 360 here on barn finds here is the Macho power wagon short bed 440! Yeah A/C doesn’t work & the mileage of 58000 is accurate but the speedo is broke! Well depending on price this truck is going to be hard to resist!

The speedometer is fully functional, I unfortunately broke the needle when cleaning the bezels of the gauge cluster. And the a/c we don’t need in this part of the country, but given the state of the rest of the truck I’m positive a recharge to the system and you’d be good to go.

      Luther,
Great truck. I see the data tag decal in the last picture, looks sun faded. Can you read any of the lines any more? Is the paint original?
      Thanks

        Hello RD,
thanks for your interest in this wonderful truck. I realize the photo of the data tag is not very legible, however know that all of the lines you can read all of the options for the truck and everything matches per description of the vehicle. The truck has been professionally two-stage painted with high grade clear coat and as of writing this, it is near perfect. If there are specific questions you have regarding the data tag don’t hesitate to ask, I will provide information requested happily.

A beautiful example of what Ma Mopar produced in the middle seventies.
Even despite higher than normal fuel prices then it still has the very potent 440 under its hood.
I can see this fine vehicle garnering in the high 20s or 30s.
Love the color combo on these Power Wagons in the mid 70s.
Reminds me of my 76 Plymouth Road Runner paint combo

A rust free rarity. These usually were run hard and put away wet. Most I’ve seen had rusty ole’ rust and were abused and neglected with electrical gremlins, missing smog equipment and title issues.. Somebody loved this truck.

Did no one hear the Ticking. Is it a Lifter?

Engine runs perfectly. We used a stock style muffler so you really only hear a throaty exhaust sound when you rev it up. There is no lifter tick . Thanks much! She runs perfectly ;-)

  11. Blake, does my opinion really matter ???

I would so rock a mullet hair cut again to drive this! I actually like it better than the little red wagon with it’s smoke stacks

This model brings back memories of the Plus Cab or whatever they called the space in 1978. For some reason they were sale-proof. I was checking flooring serial numbers part time while going to school and noticed they had put a $2000 “incentive” to get the extra cabs sold as many were approaching birthday status in inventory. That amounted to a 20% price cut. Cue to today, where damn near everything truck has not only extra space but four doors. Why was the populace so resistant? My memory is that Datsun came out with their plus cab model and they flew off the lot. But, I also am the man who took in a Lancia Biturbo, so what do I know? This is a beautiful truck and some of my fondest memories are of a year in CDA while living in a house that overlooked Hayden Lake.

This has got to be one of the nicest Power Wagons I’ve seen. And with a 440 nonetheless. Hope it goes to a great new home and has the same care and attention its already had over all these years. Beautifully preserved.

If I were in the market for a Power Wagon (and if I could stand the Halloween color combination), this is the one I would want. 440, Dana rear end; who cares about fuel costs when driving this beast?
