Finding a one-owner Corvette is always a win, but when it comes from an estate and has spent its entire life in a dry climate like Colorado, it gets even more interesting. This 1988 Chevrolet Corvette 35th Anniversary Edition checks those boxes, though it comes with a clear “project car” label that buyers will want to understand upfront. According to the seller, this Corvette was purchased new by its original owner and remained in Colorado its entire life before being acquired from her estate. It’s now showing just over 90k miles and comes with a clean title. That kind of history is appealing, especially for a special-edition C4.

Finished in the signature Anniversary white-on-white color scheme, the car still presents well overall. The interior features white leather that shows some age but remains in decent condition, and the carpet is said to be solid. The dash does have a crack, though a dash cover is included to help tidy things up.

One of the highlights here is the trio of roof options included. You’ll get two tinted glass tops plus a folding fabric top (which will need recovering), giving this Corvette a level of versatility that many C4s simply don’t have. Add in a set of desirable factory-style wheels wrapped in new tires, and you’ve got some strong visual appeal right out of the gate. The seller also notes some scratches on the hood, one of which appears to be fairly deep. Overall, the body and paint present well.

Mechanically, this is where things get more project-oriented. The car has been in storage for 12-14 years, and while it has been briefly started using an alternative fuel source—with gauges reportedly functioning—it’s not currently drivable. The fuel system will need attention, with the seller noting rust and varnish in the gas tank and recommending replacement. There are also some typical C4 electrical gremlins, a faulty neutral safety switch, and general recommissioning needs that come with long-term storage. On the plus side, some work has already been done, including new front brake pads, a fresh battery, and a brake system bleed. The pop-up headlights function properly, and key weatherstripping components for the windows are included with the sale.

This Corvette is being offered as a Barn Finds auction with a reasonable reserve, making it an approachable entry point into classic Corvette ownership—especially for someone willing to tackle a bit of mechanical sorting. So, what’s your move here? Bring it back to stock and enjoy a clean Anniversary Edition cruiser, or use it as a blank canvas for a more modernized C4 build?

I thought the netural safety switch was only on manual transmission. Am I wrong?
Neutral safety switch is for automatic transmission cars.
Clutch safety/interlock is for manual transmission cars.
I hate the clutch safety crap. It forces you to depress the clutch, which applies pressure to the engine thrust bearing(s) while the engine has no oil pressure until started and oil has been circulating. Good for safety, bad for engine bearings.
Nice looking car. I would be tempted if it had a manual transmission.
Cloth folding top???? This car came with a one-piece removable glass top. It’s not a convertible. I think the photo shows the glass top in a cloth storage bag. Nice car but needs a lot of attention. And that fuel tank is a job to change! Ask me how I know…
Mike this is an Anniversary Model, 2050 were made, it has the folding top that needs a to be recovered, the Glass one on the Corvette plus another very Nice One.
Does the rear body piece/bumper cover have to be removed?
Wayne- No, but it’s a very tight squeeze getting the tank out and back in. I had a 1989 convertible and rebuilt the entire fuel system.
That and more has to come off to do a tank R&R
Mike’s57… this 1988 has three tops, one glass top on the corvette, one fabric folding top that could use recovering, and another real nice glass top.
These came with the Anniversary Models, there were only 2050 made.
Thanks
Mike’s57… this 1988 Anniversary Model has 3 tops, one Glass top on it, another Fabric Covered one that folds, and another real nice one for the Corvette. There were only Fabric needs to be recovered.
There were only 2050 of these made. The Fabric One needs recovering.
Thanks
Love the C4 Vettes but it’s just too much white for me. Plus, it would have to be a stick with cloth seats. Overall it looks pretty clean though.
Wayne…. Not sure, I don’t know if the tank had to be removed, or cleaned out, not sure ? Thanks
Wayne…. Not sure if it has to or not, don’t know, if the rust can be removed by suction, wire brush ??
Don, having restored a couple of Euro older cars where the fuel tank was not available. I did the old, remove the tank, drop in a chain and shake it for all your worth. Hose it out. Do the chain trick again and this time flush it out with car cleaner. (I use Gumout)
Once you are sure that there is no more loose rust and everything is dry. There is a fuel tank sealer available who’s brand name escapes me at the moment. Pour in a quart or so and start turning the tank everywhich way to make sure the sealer has covered the complete inside of the tank. And then do it again. In a couple of days it will be cured and then you can reuse it. I have never had a failure with this method and would/will do it again if needed. By the way, I love C4 manual transmission cars.
Wayne… you make it sound fairly easy, but I’m just not that person, I think someone that has a lot more knowledge than me will be doing it, but that’s not me. It sounds fairly simple, and it is going to make someone a very Nice Anniversary model Corvette. It’s going to be a Great Vet. Thanks
Alex from Legit Street Cars (YouTube) did quite a lot of work on one these some time ago. It’s worth a look for anyone interested in these. Search on YouTube for Legit Street Cars. All his videos are available and there are many of them.
It’s really a unique corvette with only 2050 made, it’s gets everyone’s attention coming down the street
I would think a much better price would be realized if it was in running condition instead of repairs needed condition.
But that’s just me.
TAP…. Thanks for looking, I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t do projects like this. I rather let someone else benefit financially from this Corvette I am not the person for this. That why I have it listed as a project, someone will make it their own. They will BENEFIT.
Thanks for looking,
Don Strode
