Honda was first to the luxury party after seeing the value of providing a top-tier choice based on their reliable line of Honda cars. The year was 1986, which some of you may not remember because you weren’t born yet. Other companies followed with their own luxury makes a couple of years later. This 1994 Acura Legend Coupe LS with a six-speed manual (I know!) can be yours here as a Barn Finds Auction!
A two-door sporty luxury car with a six-speed manual is a box-checker if there ever was one. Add in Honda’s legendary reliability and the company had a winner. Ok, not all Honda products are 100% reliable all the time. Still, overall, they’re a top-tier vehicle manufacturer that always gets high marks for reliability and general design and engineering chops. The Coupe LS received bigger wheels, which were 16″ compared to the 15″ wheels on the Coupe L. The tires were new in 2006 and 2007, according to the seller.
The Legend Coupe was available in the U.S. and Canada for the 1987 model year, and this example appears nice, but it does have some visible rust around the rear wheel wells and a bit of surface rust underneath. The seller also mentions some paint issues on the top of the trunk lid as can be seen in the many good photos they have provided. Toyota spawned the Lexus brand, which is well-known for its uber-reliability and posh experience. Nissan also gave the world an interesting Infiniti line, which was made more so by their early advertising that didn’t even show the cars.
The black leather seats show some normal creases from 205,000 miles of use, and the coupe body style is fantastic, but the real feature here is Honda’s legendary manual transmission—a six-speed in this case. The seller is the second owner, having purchased this Legend Coupe LS in 2003, driving it until 2007 and then putting it into storage, starting and driving it around periodically to keep everything functioning.
The engine is Honda’s 3.2-liter SOHC 24-valve V6 with 230 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque for the Coupe. The timing belt was replaced in 1998 at 120,000 miles, the crankshaft belt and pulleys were done in 2004 at 185,000 miles, the clutch was replaced in 2003 at 179,000 miles, and much more. I never was a fan of Acura, always looking at them as little more than gussied up overpriced Accords and Civics, but this particular model is attractive and when it came out I wanted one. And the name “Legend”. What a good name for a car..Honda must have thought so because in the UK they sold a “Honda Legend”. Could it have been this car?
The six in these is so silky smooth, and even more so with the manual transmission.
My dad had this exact car with an automatic transmission. Still a fantastic ride with the slush box. Always regret not buying it from him years ago.

Got to say that these are a good looking car. This era was maybe peak Honda style.
Great car, friend had one, but rust killed it. So inspect everywhere. Was still mechically sound at 150,000 miles but unibody was so far gone that repair was not financially feaseable.
Had an Acura vigor love that car it was super plush for the time and it was bulletproof

If I am not mistaken this car may not be an LS but is a Legend GS which is more rare. I used to work at Acura if Boston in the early 90s and those are GS wheels and if you look closely on top of the intake manifold I believe it says, “Type II” which only the GS versions got and these were rated at 230hp, while all other Legends, L and LS got the regular or Type I engines rated at 200hp. This Type II engine could be had in a GS coupe or sedan. This Gen Legend was a great car. The differential seals used to cost a bit to replace because of the labor for an inexpensive seal but otherwise they were great riding cars.
