We’ve seen some pretty incredible transformations here on Barn Finds, but this 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT is one of the more impressive ones we’ve seen in a while. It looks great in the photo above, but take a look at the photo of it below when the seller found it a few years back. These second-generation Dodge Rams still have a loyal following, and clean survivors are becoming harder to find, as many were used hard and exposed to years of work-truck duty. Now that it’s cleaned up, it presents as a well-preserved North Carolina truck with recent mechanical work, original documentation, and a rust-free presentation. Located in Forest City, North Carolina, it is now offered at auction with a reserve.

When the seller acquired the truck in 2021, it had reportedly been sitting for approximately three years, with 118,000 miles on the odometer. The previous owner stated that the water pump had failed, and the seller says that proved accurate. The truck was taken to a garage, where it received a replacement water pump, serpentine belt, battery, and general service.

Power comes from a 5.9-liter Magnum V8 paired with an automatic transmission. The odometer shows 121,240 miles, and the truck is offered with a clean title. The seller states that this Ram is a two-owner North Carolina truck and describes it as totally rust-free. The underside photos they provided seem to back up that claim well.

Additional work included painting the roof, installing a new windshield, fitting a full dash replacement, adding a new set of tires, and installing a new bed liner. The seller notes that the bed liner is not hiding damage and that the metal underneath is in great shape. The truck was also professionally cleaned and detailed.

One of the most important updates is the automatic transmission. The seller states that the transmission failed during his ownership and was rebuilt by a certified Dodge mechanic. It is said to shift smoothly through the gears now and is ready to drive.

Finished in white over a gray interior, this Ram 1500 SLT is equipped with power steering, power brakes, trailer brakes, cold air conditioning, good heat, an aftermarket stereo, tilt steering, cruise control, power windows, power locks, original chrome door-edge guards, and original floor mats. The sale also includes the original window sticker, books, and additional paperwork.

The seller describes the truck as a strong-running and comfortable driver that they would feel confident taking anywhere. For someone looking for a clean, V8-powered second-generation Ram that has already received meaningful maintenance and sorting, this 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT looks like a solid candidate.

Wow. That’s some great detail work. Takes me back to when I ran the detail shop at a dealership. It was deeeeeep in farm country so a lot of our trade ins were farm trucks. The owner loved me because I would take trade ins they took for next to nothing and get them back on the lot and sell them for 2 or 3 times as much as we took it for! Too bad I’m too old to do that all the time anymore.
