The Ford Excursion remains one of the most recognizable full-size SUVs ever built, known for its size, capability, and massive presence on the road. This 2002 Ford Excursion, now listed as a Barn Finds Auction in Oklahoma City, represents the big SUV formula at its most extreme, powered by Ford’s naturally aspirated V10 engine and equipped with four-wheel drive.

Under the hood sits the 6.8-liter V10 single-overhead-cam engine paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. According to the listing, the drivetrain recently received significant attention with a full engine overhaul. The top and bottom of the engine were examined, and necessary components were replaced. Since the rebuild, the engine reportedly has about 300 miles on it.

This mechanical refresh came after the odometer reached 297,000 miles, prompting the decision to overhaul the engine and bring it back to spec. In addition to the overhaul itself, several supporting components have also been replaced. These include a new power steering pump, water pump, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, spark plugs, plug wires, radiator, battery, and new gaskets installed throughout the engine.

The Excursion rides on 24-inch HardRock chrome wheels, contributing to its aggressive stance. Another unique detail noted in the listing is the Rhino Lining applied to the top half of the vehicle. The seller states they are currently in the process of removing the old coating and spraying it with new material.

Inside, the Excursion offers the kind of features that made these SUVs popular for both family and utility use. Equipment listed includes leather seats, power windows, power locks, and power seats. Additional features include adjustable pedals, heated mirrors, rear parking aid, and rear seat audio controls. Running boards are also part of the package, making entry into the tall SUV easier.

Few 25-year-old vehicles command attention quite like a Ford Excursion, and with a rebuilt V10 engine and a long list of replaced components, this example aims to continue doing exactly that. Whether used as a family hauler, tow vehicle, or weekend adventure rig, it’s hard to ignore the presence of a V10-powered full-size SUV.

Would you use this V10 Excursion as a road-trip machine or put its capability to work hauling and towing? Let us know if you have any questions in the comment section and cast your bids below!

I was told by some owners the Diesel engine was the way to go. Stronger better on fuel economy. V10 suck gas there was a joke floating around. When you start a Excursion V10 you lose 2 gallons of gas!! 😂 ok.. I heard about the exhaust manifolds cracking. This one is great shape i could not put a price on it .I am more car guy. I see them high as $28,000.00. I wish the seller good luck since he put a lot of work into it. 🇺🇸🐻 .
One of the most ridiculous, wasteful vehicles ever to come off an assembly line. This was the beginning of all the nonsensical gigantic vehicles on the road today… wasting fuel and endangering other drivers.
