  • Seller: kevin f ernander (Contact)
  • Location: Louisville, Kentucky
  • Mileage: 18,588 Shown
  • Chassis #: 1D7HA18N23J580622
  • Title Status: Clean
  • Engine: 4.7-Liter V8
  • Transmission: Automatic

This incredibly preserved 2003 Dodge 1500 out of Louisville, Kentucky, reads like a true survivor story—and the details back it up. Offered with a clean title and showing just 18,588 miles, this pickup has remained with the same family since new, having been originally purchased by the seller’s father. According to the listing, the truck was rarely driven, always garage kept, and may not have even seen rain during its lifetime. With documented oil-change receipts stored in the glove box, the mileage is supported by real paperwork rather than guesswork.

Power comes from the dependable 4.7-liter V8, paired with an automatic transmission, delivering the kind of simple, reliable performance that made these early-2000s Dodge trucks so popular. Notably, this example was ordered with a very clean, no-nonsense equipment set, including manual windows, manual door locks, and manual mirrors, along with factory rubber flooring and mats—a setup many truck enthusiasts now actively seek out for durability and ease of use.

From the factory and early ownership, this Dodge was equipped with a thoughtful list of practical upgrades: a manual sliding rear window, bed liner, bull bar, running boards, factory bug shield on the hood, and Dodge mud flaps. Inside, it retains cloth seating, along with tilt steering, cruise control, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and a factory receiver hitch. The listing notes that cold A/C is fully functional, and that everything works as it should, which is a rare statement for a low-mileage vehicle that spent long periods stored.

What makes this truck especially meaningful is the story behind it. The seller shares that their father was unable to drive any of his collection in his later years due to declining health, and now their mother is ready to pass this truck along to its next caretaker. The result is a vehicle that wasn’t worn out through daily duty—it was preserved.

With barely over 18,000 miles on the odometer, this Dodge presents a rare opportunity to acquire a nearly untouched example of an early-2000s half-ton pickup exactly as it left the era that produced it. Whether someone is looking for a dependable light-duty driver, a collector-grade survivor, or simply a clean starting point for long-term ownership, this truck checks all the right boxes.

As a Barn Finds auction listing, this 2003 Dodge 1500 stands out not because it’s flashy or heavily modified—but because it’s honest, original, and remarkably well cared for. How often does a modern-era truck still feel like a true time capsule?

Every time I put in a bid, I get an error message stating the page does not exist.

I just tested it and it worked. Can you try it again?

    Beautiful truck. If it only had a 5.7L Hemi…. I’m not a fan of Chrysler’s 4.7L OHC V8.

I had an ’03 Hemi 2500. They were known for breaking valve springs.

Yes, my 2003 5.7 broke a valve spring at 117,000 miles

@jimmy d lee Mine was about 106,000. How convenient for Mopar they broke right after the 100,000 power train warranty. I was so PO’d I went out and bought a Chevy 2500.

I owned the exact same truck except mine was dark garnet. Best truck I ever owned. I drove it from 2003 – 2018 when I bought a 19 Ram. Daily driver in S. FL, then took a trip to Alaska in 2017. From S. FL heat to Alaska cold it just kept going. 2 wheel drive did well in the snow, mine had a Posi rear end with HD cooling and oil and trans coolers included in the trailing package. More than enough to haul a pop up camper all over the lower 48.
I love the 19 Ram but I miss “Big Red.”

I wonder what the reserve on it is?

I like it I like that its manual windows and rubber mat floors I’m 90% sure the reserve is more than I can spend at the moment but its one to watch and see if it cracks the reserve. I will definitely watch and possibly bid. Then if I win figure out how to go get it.

With the low mileage, I’m shocked to see some surface rust underneath. I have a 2012 Ram 1500 with 11k miles and it looks like the day it rolled out of the factory.

I had a 2002 with a few more options. I had the same engine and put over 250k miles on it. It was still running strong when I sold it. The rear quarters on mine were pretty rusted. Very strong truck and nice comfortable ride for a truck.

I drive an 01 model. 5.2 318 and it’s throwing codes. Typical of the 318 engine. Will turn over yet will not crank.

Turn over and crank mean the same thing. Do you mean will turn over/crank but won’t start/fire?

I only see one issue with it. It has two too many doors.

I’m not one to concern myself with color but this one may as well been called “repellent”. We didn’t paint too many in this green but did receive a number of over build Jeep Liberty Sports in the same color. Both people who liked it had already bought theirs. You had to pay others to take it. Fortunately leasing was big in our area and people will drive anything for under $200 per month.

As for this truck I would use for its expressed purpose. Enough box to haul, engine to tow and room in the cab for your stuff.

Do you know when the tires were replaced? Date on tires if possible. Thanks Jimmy C

I had one same thing except 4-wheel drive and no where near the condition that this one is in so hopefully the next buyer will treat this one the same as the original owner did because it’ll be hard to find another one in the same condition

I also have one of these.2004 model 4wd, 5.7l. Laramie package. Bought it new. Has over 175k miles, rusted all to hell, top to bottom but still running. It has required regular wear items but nothing major.
