Update: We have relisted this one as an auction with a very reasonable reserve. Bid now to give yourself the best Christmas gift ever!
I’ve wanted a 3-wheeler since reading an article about the Liberty Ace back in 2012 or so. Not long after that, Morgan bought the Ace design and revamped it into their modern-day version of a cycle car. Big V-twin engine, Miata transmission, and the most unique body you will see on the road today. Well, a few years ago, my dream finally came true when I purchased this 3-wheeler from Morgan Spares in New York. I wasn’t let down either! This thing has been more fun and generated more attention than any vehicle I’ve ever owned. But, with some hesitation, I have decided to sell it on to focus on a few other projects.

The early 3-wheelers had some bugs to work out. Luckily, all of the factory-recommended upgrades were completed by Morgan Spares during the previous owner’s stewardship. The work completed included:
- Centa drive kit
- Cooling fan kit
- Steering comfort pack
- Crank pulley update
- Exhaust mount update
- Supermax rear sprocket
- Exhaust wrap

During my ownership, I have replaced the fuel sender with one that displays the correct fuel level on the gauge. I have also installed a rear fender kit from Morgan. It helps protect the inside of the body from stones and water. I’m on the tall side, so a steering wheel spacer from Krazy Horse in the UK was installed. A brand new Motolita steering wheel also went in. It’s a little smaller and has the added benefit of making it easier to see all the gauges. It looks stock, but I will include the original if someone wants to return everything to the factory. I also replaced a few of the fuel hoses on the top of the engine per club recommendations.

It doesn’t need anything to be enjoyed, but I would plan on mounting new tires in the future and perhaps investigating the oil leak. It could be the line that runs up to the oil tank or the rear main seal. It didn’t leak enough to bother me, but I want to be transparent about everything. This really is a fantastic vehicle, and I know the next owner will enjoy it immensely. Unless you have a Morgan dealer nearby, it may be a good idea to join the 3-wheeler club and study up on maintaining things yourself. That is part of the enjoyment of Morgan ownership, though, so I highly recommend going that route if you are handy with a wrench.

The Morgan 3-Wheeler is not for everyone. It is loud and unconventional. Some people don’t like those words, but for those of us who do, this is the ultimate fun-mobile. The three-wheel layout makes every corner interesting. The V-twin power is a conversation starter. And you’d better like talking to people because the floating body catches everyone’s eye, and Morgan doesn’t carry the stigma that some sports car brands do. I could carry on forever about how great these little machines are, but I don’t want anyone to think I’m trying to convince them. If you know, you know.

Is the cabin as tight as it looks? I’m thinking I’d have to have one cheek on each seat. It’s just as well. I don’t think I could fit two size 14s in that footwell.
It’s cozy but roomier than you’d think. I am over 6″ tall, size 12 shoes, and weighed about 230 when I first got it. You can adjust the pedals but I have them all the way back right now (shorter people would want to move them forward). The smaller steering wheel and spacer really made a big difference for me. I can jump in and drive long distances comfortably.
These Morgan 3 wheelers are so cool!! I have always wanted to drive one. This one looks absolutely terrific. This was ( is) your baby Jesse, you can just tell. I remember as a kid in the late 70’s my Grandma went on a cruise to Bermuda. While there she bought 2 small metal model Morgan 3 wheeler models. Unfortunately, I played with it to death, and don’t remember what happened to it. I think I probably played with my older brothers as well ( much to his disliking). Best wishes on the sale of your Morgan Jesse and to the buyer as well.
Thanks. It should make someone the ultimate Christmas present!
Every time a Morgan pops up for sale, it will have super low mileage. People hardly use them. I was at a MC show and they had 2 on display. The amount of attention they got was insane. People lined up to watch them drive off. I don’t know why owners don’t drive them more often. It’s seems like a very expensive impulse buy
It’s for the same reason you see so many low mileage motorcycles around. Most people buy these to have fun, not to daily drive. You could do it but the stop and go commute is a lot more bearable with AC and a cupholder.
Really like these Morgans, but why didn’t Morgan make them to look like the Supersport spare wheel on the back. The instruments look hideous I would go for some real vintage style gauges. Surely for the British market a full width taller windscreen should be offered. If I owned one it would soon be high mileage. Merry Christmas everyone.
I actually prefer the turtle over the barrel back design myself. Once you drive one, you’ll understand why the gauges have an aircraft vibe. With that big v-twin thumping out front and the unique feeling of the 3-wheel layout, it’s easy to imagine that you are in cockpit of an old plane! You can get a full windscreen but unless you are driving on the highway a lot, I’m not sure why you would need one. The cowl sits high and the small screens provide just enough protection from wind and bugs. I’d wear a full face helmet for long distance touring anyway.
only 1s I saw (regularly on the st driving) were in Boston in the late ‘60s/early 70s. Guy used it to commute the terrible traffic there. Used it like some motorcycle drivers (going the ‘no lane’ between stopped cars in traffic). I think I spied him use the sidewalk too (just 1X). Probably 2 (I know one, anyway) messerschmitt (kr200) running the rd then too. Never saw them ‘pull the illegals’ tho…
Pics show the odd harley engine up front too. A sacrilege… glad U owned/drove and obviously ‘well curated’ the 3 wheeler. GLw/S~
Someone watched Top Gear! LOL!
The first sports car I ever saw was a Morgan three-wheeler, in Haxby, Yorkshire, in about 1949. Now, my friends Dennis & Lori Frick run Morgan Cars Mid-Atlantic in Pennsylvania. They currently have a 2014 three-wheeler with 6,500 miles for sale for $52,500, so the price of this one seems very fair.
I’ve noticed that there sure seem to have been a lot of the
newer three-wheelers for sale.I’ve wondered why.
Is there a reason for that?
The Super3 came out recently so that’s probably what you’re seeing. They don’t have the same character as these though!
If I were in the market, this would make a very suitable replacement for the Can-Am Spyder we had to sell when we moved.
I am not a two wheel motorcycle person. Every person I have known who had one went over on it including a brother who got rid of his quickly. Maybe I would ride a trike because it is at least it had three wheels. (Maybe not!). I have driven a few 4 wheel Morgans and like their feel. I even knew a woman in our car club (at the time) whose name was Morgan and she got one just to match her name. However…… going from a 4 wheeler to a 3 wheeler wouldn’t be my ‘cup-o- tea’ either! I really prefer 4 wheels, thank you! I have no judgment here and do not know the marque, however if I did, I would feel best in a Morgan and not a Reliant!!
That looks like a really fun car that would get me in lots of trouble. Having a CDL I tend not get break if I’m caught spending because I’m supposed to know better
I live 30 minutes or so from Boise if anyone needs a set of eyes on this. I’d be happy to check it out … and happier just to see it in person.
I have a replica built in Ohio a few years ago by an Air Force aircraft mechanic, the attention I get while driving is scary. I look over and the people driving next to me are holding up their phone to get a pic or vid, yikes. Very fun to drive, mine tends to wander back and forth, and is pretty noisy with the Moto Guzzi 950cc engine.
Unfortunately, my 3-wheeler did not get enough bids to meet the reserve. Perhaps Black Friday was a bad day to end an auction?
