BF Exclusive: 1966 Ford Cortina Shell

1966 Cortina Shell

From Greg B – This is a fire sale, as I have to move. I purchased this project (saved from the crusher) about 6 years ago. I think I paid $1,200 for it at the time and always dreamed of making an Allen Man style race car out of it. Someone long ago dropped it on a monster truck chassis so the engine bay is cut out to fit a V8. Rust is present but not beyond restorable. There is a back seat and maybe a couple of raccoons in there. There are a couple of gauges, dash is in okay shape, glass is good except for the windshield. Yes, this is a barn find and it could make a really cool track car!

On A Trailer

This Cortina shell is located in Port Angeles, Washington and Greg needs to get rid of it quick. He doesn’t expect to get what he paid, so you can make him a reasonable offer here via email. Thanks for listing this us Greg! Hopefully it goes to someone who can use it.

If you have a project that you need to get rid of, please consider having it featured here on Barn Finds!

Thank God I’m in Atlanta. I was salivating at this and questioning how much I valued my marriage vs getting this car.

Good thing it’s on the west coast. Otherwise, I might have to stop the mustang build and start over. Would still be a great car to have just to store as a later project.

Fire sale is right, wow! What a great price for such a great, straight body.

My first car was a 1971 Ford Pinto 1600cc non-hatchback. The local parkinglot SCCA guys told me that it was somewhat of a cousin to the Cortina. (drivetrain wise) I put a header and a side-draft Weber on it then drove the heck out if it! =)

You have NO idea just how desirable that shell is in the UK, older Ford prices have gone through the roof! Can i suggest you contact the ford cortina owners club, you never know, someone might just pay the price and the shipping!

This is a deal-and-a-half for the right buyer.

Very cool- a shame the only ‘race car’ me & a couple of buddies are looking for is for the “24 Hours of Lemons”/fun beater. Too nice/rare of a car to do that with- our best possible options right now is a partially stripped ’80 Aspen cop car and an ’04 Sonata that has the trunk lid & quarter bashed. But they are cheap…

There are loads of these in New Zealand and Australia, scrap yards are full of them, a scrap yard holiday awaits you, with tons of spares to be had and cheap.
