Big Claims: 1935 Chevrolet Two Door

We look at hundreds of cars every day and we have read some pretty incredible claims. Some claim their car is some rare lost jewel, while others claim their freshly restored car is completely original. The seller of this 1935 Chevrolet Two Door Sedan claims that it’s still original and unrestored. They don’t say much more than that in their listing, which can be found here on eBay.

The interior looks correct, but we aren’t sure if it looks like its 77 years old. It looks to us like it’s an older restoration, but then again we could be wrong. If this really is the original interior it is still very intact, but there are a few areas needing attention. Hopefully the next owner will fix the problems and keep the rest as is, especially if it really is original.

The engine looks good and the seller says it still runs and drives great. The odometer shows 55,000 miles, which is believed to be the actual mileage. A service sticker on the door from 1960 shows the car having 50,000 miles at that time. For this engine bay to look so clean, someone had to have diligently maintained it or restored it at some point.

The exterior of the car looks fantastic and the paint is still shiny and bright. It’s hard to tell whether this really is the original paint or not from a few photos, so we would want to look at this car closely to see if it’s the proper paint or not. All criticisms aside, we love the looks of this classic and we wouldn’t mind having one.

Answering the question of whether this 77 year old classic is truly a survivor will require looking at it very closely and seeing if there is any documentation to prove it. Hopefully it really is a survivor, as we doubt there are many of these left in original condition. Do you believe this really is a survivor or just another seller that doesn’t understand what a survivor really is?

~ i don’t comprehend including the words ‘rat rod’ in the posting subtitle. distressing, to put it mildly. i like the term in proper context, this should not be it. make it clear, though, what has been done since the ‘find’.

the only plausible explanation would be that it sat in a Museum since 1960 (my whole life !)and was regularly pampered, started, but not driven much, but for one 40 mile trip every year for an employee fun run…..
that wasn’t so hard to figure out ?

I like these era cars, as in I was born to late. But, owning and driving this, is another matter. I reckon it is better to have someone else own it…………and I look at it.

It has been well cared for, but it wasn’t sitting out in a field, as some of the pictures show, for very long, I did notice the shine on the left front fender to be different then the right, so maybe had some paint work along the way , no big deal, as for the probability of a car looking this good, my cars look & run as good, or better then when I bought them, whether they have 10,000 miles or 110,000 miles & I once owned an Alfa Romeo Duetto for 26 years & when I did sell it at 32 years old, it was better in all respects then when I bought it .

I think it has had a sympathetic restoration at some point, or at least some touching up over the years. The air filter has fish-eyes in the paint, which could have come from poor prep prior to a re-spray, plus the aforementioned finish differences in the front fenders. Regardless, it’s still cool, and shouldn’t be messed with, except for a matching set of tires. Coker makes nice re-pops.

the car was delivered Saturday and we are VERY pleased with it. this is the 3rd old car I’ve bought on line without personal inspection and it is the only one of the three that actually looked exactly like the photos when it arrived.
this is our 4 unrestored original 1930s car, and I can assure the doubters it has NOT been restored. paint on fenders has been touched up recently, as disclosed by the seller prior to bidding but that’s all.
we are looking forward to preserving and driving this car, it will be FUN…..
