A barn find Porsche 930 is near impossible to find; a Ruf-tuned 930 ups the unlikelihood to nosebleed levels of difficulty. The listing for a Ruf-enhanced 930 shows a dusty, neglected car that was supposedly discovered in a carport and is now a non-runner that remains in very original condition. There’s one bid to $50K, and I have no doubt it will climb dramatically going forward. Find the 930 here on eBay for sale in Texas.
While Porsche would handle any number of requests for special orders, including the slantnose conversion seen here, Ruf existed to turn the performance up a notch or two. Ruf authorized Porsche dealers are scattered throughout the United States, so it’s likely this Porsche began as a traditional 930 before an owner requested the custom touches.
The seller says in this instance, Ruf was also responsible for the cosmetic modifications, including the slantnose, body kit, and rear quarter panels. The interior features custom Recaro leather seats installed by Ruf, while the engine compartment likely houses numerous tweaks, which can include Ruf enhancements like a bigger turbo, upgraded cams, and a 5-speed gearbox.
The interior remains in good condition, with those gorgeous leather seats the epitome of 1980s sport seat culture. The seller has not attempted to start the 930, so running condition is a huge question mark – and the Ruf-specific components may make a mechanical refresh more of a challenge. Of course, given the rarity, I doubt budgeting will be a problem for the next owner.
Refreshing.
Well at least it’s not another Porsche 356 from that wretched junkyard/dealer. This car might be a bargain compared to RUF’s latest offering called the CTR, for $800k!!
This would be so much fun to do an engine out service on! Just imagine hearing it run again! This may be quite the bargain…
Yup, if you also like doing major brake jobs, some suspension work and are down with the idea of buying new rubber, too.
Before I’d strap in, I’d want to know everything had been looked over.
One of the car magazines, probably Car & Drive, did an article not too long ago about Ruf. Still going strong with some interesting, go fast stuff.
A wish …. and big cash. Alois and crew have done some remarkable cars over the years. “Yellow Bird” comes to mind. Much more recently, his own vehicle that “sort of” resembles a Porsche, “mostly”. Think that may be the one Billy1 is mentioning. Write up in Car & Driver (or Road & Track), and likely other mags. I generally don’t like white cars, but this Ruf is quite nice !
Geez, $50k and they can’t even wash it? No description? No way.
I know this guy is a flipper, but somebody flipped this one with a forklift once. Look at that rocker! Great pictures, though. That was a lot of work. Shame the transaxle case was blown up at one time, though. Surprised it wasn’t replaced then. Or the whole thing blasted to blend the welds. I guess it was a different time. No RUF documentation at all???
With no docs from Ruf proving otherwise it’s just another non running crap basket m505 conversion. If you have an extra $100k laying around it could be a nice car.
Look up the car on ebay, dig a bit and you’ll see who is selling the car. I believe the description and the story based on who found it and is selling it. For you that are too lazy, it’s Dennis Collins, friend of Richard Rawlings.
Does Dennis Collins and being a friend of Richard Rawlings add or detract from the Value?
It typically means that it is overpriced.
Just because Dennis calls most of his finds the “Holy Grail” doesn’t make it so.
