With aggressive styling, big horsepower, and Carrera 3.0-inspired performance, this 1977 Porsche 911S offers the looks and driving thrills of the more potent factory cars—without the six-figure price tag. Listed here on craigslist in Spokane, Washington, this extensively upgraded 911 has undergone a glass-out repaint and major mechanical enhancements. It’s being marketed as a Carrera 3.0 tribute, and the work appears to be thoughtfully executed with performance and presentation in mind.

The transformation began in 2002 with a full glass-out repaint and cosmetic overhaul. Carrera rear fender flares and Carrera sport seats were added to create a more muscular and focused appearance. The seller notes the powerplant is a rebuilt 3.0-liter flat-six with European fuel injection, SSI heat exchangers, and other performance upgrades producing approximately 255 horsepower—plenty of grunt in a chassis this light.

Underneath, it’s been treated to new suspension bushings, Koni shocks, Turbo tie rods, Weltmeister sway bars, and stainless brake lines. A short-throw shifter with an upgraded universal joint and Swepco gear oil adds crispness to the 5-speed experience. The car is also fitted with wider 16×8 and 16×9 polished Fuchs wheels mounted on current Michelin tires, helping it both fill out the Carrera flares and plant the power effectively.

Cosmetically, the car’s black powder-coated trim gives it a more modern, aggressive look. Inside, numerical gauges and a 180-mph Turbo speedometer enhance the illusion of this being a true Carrera 3.0, while a Kenwood stereo system with six speakers brings modern sound to the mix. If originality is your thing, the seller notes the original Blaupunkt stereo is included.

Although not a factory Carrera 3.0—those were built from 1976 to 1977 and never sold in the U.S.—this build mimics the performance and look while retaining the availability and value of a standard 911S. If the quality of the work matches the description, this tribute may be a fantastic alternative for someone who wants the driving experience and presence without the collector premium.

If you’ve always wanted a Carrera 3.0 but didn’t want to shell out for the real thing, would this high-quality tribute scratch the itch?

Now this is the modified 911 you want to buy! Beautiful car.
Agreed.
Two other things to do: 1, get rid of the hideous bumper blocks (easy), and 2, and more importantly, upgrade the transmission to the G50 tranny. The transmission from that era is very clunky.
Just buy a 3.2 and be done with it.
