Cherry Survivor: 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser

The FJ60 chassis of Toyota’s Land Cruiser SUV has earned its status as an icon over time, thanks to its impressive off-road capabilities and unmistakable styling. There is a constant demand for these classy Toyotas, especially examples like this immaculate 1989 Land Cruiser that is here on eBay.

This two-owner Land Cruiser is available in Happy Valley, Oregon. The SUV appears to be in immaculate shape, sporting original paint and no rust, even though there are some small blemishes, like rock chips and minor dings. It sure is bright and will be easy to spot.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find a very tidy interior that is free of rips and any blemishes. The seller notes the headliner has absolutely no damage and the carpet is like new. A good detailing will have this interior looking as good as new.

The 4.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine supposedly is in great running condition, with only has 98,629 miles on it. Additionally, the automatic transmission shifts great. The seller also claims the suspension is tight, the brakes are new, and the truck rides smoothly down the road without veering.

At the time of this article being written, bidding is at $12,100. Would you be willing to pay the price for this thoroughly celebrated Toyota SUV, or do you think something else would better suit your off-road adventures?

This bad boy is nearing the 20K mark with over 3 days left in bidding. No matter how you look at it, you just can’t get this build quality in this day and age for massed produced automobiles. Super nice example of a tough Toyota.

You can on a modern Landcruiser/LX. Toyota mandates the wearable parts have a 25 year service life (with the exception of brake pads) and they’re still hand- built. Of course you also pay for that quality with a starting price around $80K.

Toyota 4×4 running gear is tough. I had a Diesel, and regretted selling it.

98,000 miles is just broken in. Drive train is bullet proof ( fuel and emissions excluded) Not the most economical vehicle. But overall cost of ownership is really cheap. Great, strong vehicle. Yes unbelievable build quality. Not your standard Toyota ( or anyone else’s ) build standard. Built to last and last and last. I have seen transmission and rear diff. issues with the LX Toyota Cruisers.
If you have ever had one of these engines apart. You would think that you were working on something industrial. Not built for high RPM (4,000 is about tops) but the bearing sizes and journal sizes are massive. No planed failure time there.

    Finished out at $20,300.
Seems hefty price-wise, until you consider that if you preserve it, the value will probably remain pretty constant, and maybe even rise over time?
Alternately, you can use the heck out of it, double or triple the mileage, and then sell it and get half your money back?
In either case, a wise investment, it would seem.
