UPDATE 9/1/18 – This Corvette has been relisted here on eBay with a dollar starting bid and no reserve. That’s more like it!
FROM 8/19/18 – If you are looking for a master of disguise, this is not it. Or is it? If you can tell, then you are a master. This black 1965 Chevrolet Corvette with 34,449 miles is currently sitting at an auction price of $39,999 with no bids and no reserve. Located in Miami, Florida, the car does seem to be in good shape and has been garage kept. You can visit its listing on eBay.
Hiding in the engine bay is claimed to be the original, numbers matching, 327 connected to a 4-speed manual. The current owner made sure to turn the motor by hand every so often to ensure that it be kept alive. This agent was in solitary confinement for a while but has emerged looking whole. Although, restoration is in order.
If you’re going to be a spy, you have to sell your story inside and out. The car looks decent on the outside and supports every bit of that on the inside. Not too nice, but certainly not rotting or missing pieces. A deep clean should get it debriefed and ready for further assignment. There should be no problem getting it back into shape.
It might have the original jack, but the hood looks like those found on 1967 Corvettes. Also, there is an exhaust pipe out the left front wheel well and no side pipe along the car. Someone certainly modified this car and added and subtracted parts before parking it for its long, 41-year slumber. There should be some interrogations before purchasing this car.
34,449 original mileage? If that’s what the speedometer says, it must be true. No documentation needed, nor does the condition of the car need to back that claim either.

Maybe he means “vertical miles?”
What goes up must come down!
👀’s like 327/350hp w/high rise aluminum mani. with 4spd Munci …..
The ad states it is a 327-365 horse engine….solid lifter engine..
Not with the Holley that’s on it!!
It has the 365 tach but that doesn’t mean much.
Would be a fun project, I’d love to have it, whatever the miles.
You’d pay 40K???
365 HP had fuelie heads, high rise aluminum intake, 11:1 compression and a 600 CFM Holley. Yes, 600. So, that carb is probably correct. A 350 HP would look the same, and is, except for having a hydraulic cam instead of the solid 30- 30 cam.
RH factor your wrong & the carb & fuel lines on the motor is incorrect!! Your so confident that you don’t allow any one to rebuttal you. Everything else is correct that you said.👇
Lil wax and leather cleaner between engine turns and a car cover could of been nice on the
300k mile car .
Family owned is great but being Florida one would love to see frame pictures
Yes this mint car looks like a low mileage car for sure 😂
It just had the intake and breather run away
What mint???
The power antenna was standard and the seats belong in a ’67, maybe the door panels too.
And that hood is aftermarket not ’67.
Good is real!! Maybe not to the car originally.
40K Pesos?
This car is worth much more than the ’59 here if the frame is good. The paint is so weird. Looks like tin can black over primer.
He’s not that far out of line,C2’s in this shape bring mid 20’s easily.factor in the L79 manual and your at 30 +.That said the market is weird right now ;
The value of projects has not declined proportionately to the nicely finished cars.It takes a lot of car to reach a $50 k price, and yet folks line up to pay 30 for one like this subject, which is sixty grand from being in that league.
Agreed with others on avoiding Florida cars.Florida is NOT California or Arizona !
Lastly “owned since 1971 … “.Really ??
I would never admit to letting something as gorgeous as a mid year Corvette ,deteriorate to this condition,or sit neglected, for nearly 50 years.
Not in agreement!!
Mainlymuscle said it Rocco.
It’s not an L79. The beauty of the L79 is it does not have solid lifters and still revs.
I never said it was!
My gut tells me someone will plunk down 40 large for this, depending on where the auction is. Sorry to see this beauty in such poor shape. Would haul the groceries nicely if that’s a solid lifter 327. get a good look at the frame and birdcage!
Good luck to the new owner
currently sitting at an auction price of $39,999 with no bids… and no reserve?
Yep. What’s so hard to understand about that?
Leave it to a woman to say something like that!!!
Jackie Gleason was not a woman. You should never assume gender.
Too many people with delusions of wealth price these cars. They take the price it is worth as it sits, add in the profit they think would be made after fully restored and want the profit without doing any work.
If the frame is good just do mechanicals as needed and clean & scrub the rest of it. Too much is wrong with this car (as noted above) including the lips cut out of the fender wells, exhaust, etc. Fixable, surely. Just not $$$ wise.
This guy has a yard full of corvettes. Several are for sale on eBay. Others probably soon to follow.
High red line tach maybe it left St. Louis as a 365 ? I’ve seen other cars offered by this seller, flipper ? Seats & Hood definately are ’67. I’d still like to own it but not at that $$$$.
This is the reason the dreaded H.O.A.’s exist! Can you imagine this as “yard art” for any number of those neglecting years? LOL!! :-)
The guy seems to know his ‘vettes…given the number that are in the backgrounds of a few of the pictures. Bidding is over 30K. He’ll probably get his price. I imagine that with a set of side pipes and a good paint job this would have way more positive comments. I like this rough diamond
Looks like the interior could use new carpet ans the rest of the interior looks to be in good shape.
