Dentist Needed: 1958 Buick Roadmaster

The missing teeth out of the grille make this huge Buick look like it lost a fight with a boxer (Porsche or Subaru?) “Rocky” is located in Ottertail, Minnesota and is for sale here on eBay with bidding at just over $1k but it hasn’t met the reserve. There sure is a lot of brightwork on this car, although apart from the grille and two hubcaps it all seems to be present. This car was behind a North Dakota barn for many years, but with the thick metal used at that time there seems to be little rust-through, and apart from the two front fenders and the floorboards there’s not a lot of other rust either. This would be different from the usual Fords and Chevy’s at the local cruise-in, and whether you chose to embrace the patina or repaint, I think the sheer presence of the car with all the chrome and stainless is superb.  Would you like to have this great car the next time you meet up with your Ford and Chevy-loving pals?

The draw back here is 4doors……

No draw back on 4 doors when it’s a hard top. I would love to cruise the interstate with windows down radio up. I would guess all the chrome including bumpers weight 500+ lbs.

Harley Earl never found a place he could not put chrome on. It looks like a good project car.

I’ll bet that thing floats down the interstate once you get that 2 ton beast rolling, it would be like sitting in your livingroom watching a DVD of cars on the highway in front of you, I would sure hate to make a panic stop at 70mph in that thing. It is pretty cool car though.

IMO 4 door hardtops look much nicer than 2 doors. Take the 57 Chev for example. The 4 door hardtop looks fantastic, whereas the 2 door hardtop has the same roofline as the 210 4 door pillar sedan.

Also known as a Buick Roadblaster. Very cool.

Not the ugliest car of all time that honor goes to the 1960 Valiant. This car is rare and pretty cool. When was the last time you saw one at a cruise in? Worth restoring.

The 1960 Valiant got knocked out of the number one ugliest car spot when the Pontiac Aztek made its debut in my opinion.
I’m not a fan of 4 doors but this one’s not bad. I think this car holds the record for the most chrome/stainless trim on a passenger car. Does anyone know for sure?

Might go neck and neck with the 1958 Oldsmobile.

Always, loved the look, of these land yachts. @jw454-I’ve been thinking, about it, for the last quarter hour and, I cannot top you; worst, ever? I agree: the Pontiac Aztek. (Oh, and, I used to be a car shuttler so, I have driven a few)…sightlines, what sightlines? Just, like the Chevy Lumina version.
