The seller of this 1965 Mustang claims that the engine runs and drives, but that the brakes don’t “stop real good”. That’s the least of the next owner’s problems though as there’s plenty of rust and bodywork that need addressing. This wasn’t the best specced car either with a 289-2v, 3-speed manual, and standard interior. Still, Fastbacks are very desirable and there’s no doubt in my mind that someone will rescue this poor pony. It’s located in Spring City, Pennsylvania and is listed here on eBay where bidding ends later today.

Man these continue to go up. I bought a C code four speed fastback 66 in 2001 for $7,800 off of EBay. It was a runner as the guy drove it from Minneapolis to Des Moines to meet me. It was a 20 footer with a bad paint job (presentable but still full of runs and waves) but way nicer than what you can get for the same money today. As they continue to get thin on the ground, the prices will continue to go up and up.
In the mid to late 70’s you could buy early daily driver Mustangs for $200-300 all day long. I remember reading Car & Driver in ’76 and they said old Mustangs will never be worth much, too many of them were made. I wish I had bought a big building and bought every Mustang that I could buy. Hindsight is nice.
Yup, paid $600 for a D code 64-1/2 coupe with factory seat belts and a/c back in the early 80’s.
Pennsylvamia winters and all the salt on the roads rust is probably worse than just the exterior. Don’t think it’s a good deal
It was either the late 80’s or early 90’s My dad had been after a fastback that he liked in Glasgow he swapped a 240 Volvo estate for it without looking it over when offered the deal.

this worked out good though as he ended out buying a 428 cobra jet engine to put in it..

Sold $8,800, too much for the rust repair, stopping would be the least of my worries, falling through the floor would be my first.
Just put your feet through the floor and the braking problem is solved! Hey, it worked for the Flintstones…
bought my 66 mustang fastback back in 1984 for $ 100. and a total rebuild, gave it the Hertz rent a racer look
