Donated Muscle Car: 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

Ah – time for another classic from the Just Donated page on eBay. This time, it’s a 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 that looks pretty solid overall save for some issues stemming from an apparent electrical fire on the passenger side. Like all of their listings, you have to do plenty of guesswork on these donated cars, but the no reserve auctions means you potentially land a decent ride for very short money. Find the Camaro here on eBay near Freetown, Mass.

I love this generation of the Camaro. The rear glass hatch, the DeLorean-esque taillights, the five-spoke alloy wheels – those are the calling cards of this era of Chevy’s iconic muscle car design. In my opinion, the Camaro was better looking than the Firebird/Trans Am, and this design still holds it own today. The passenger door incident is mysterious indeed – what’s underneath the right side floor that could potentially spark and turn into flames?

Mileage is listed as being just under 90,000, and while you never can tell on a used car like this, the condition inside seems to support such a claim. The seats and carpeting are in good shape for a car that has clearly not been loved by a long-term caretaker in some time, instead bouncing from donation lot to eBay car lot with no reserve pricing. Surely, this Camaro had to have been someone’s pride and joy at one time, belonging to an owner who joyfully drove it off the lot for the first time.

The condition of the back seat further validates the reasonably low miles mentioned in the listing, as the rear passenger compartment looks like brand new. The seller reports that the Camaro, sadly, does not run, and blames it on an electrical issue – perhaps the damage on the passenger side was caused by faulty connections or a short circuit somewhere and was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back for a long-suffering owner. Hopefully, someone will take a chance on this no-reserve 80s muscle car.

    From the EBay ad:

    “Item location:
    Orange, California, United States”

so it is not located near Freetown, Mass.

strange area to have a issue like this.Anyone have a idea what could have caused it? Might be a simple fix! I like the car though and will watch the bidding-I,m kind of liking this.

The cat sits under the general area on the passenger side where the fire damage is. Someone might have left it in some tall dry grass and started a fire.

        Sure…..blame the cat.
It’s always the cat who did it

Looks to be a 305 tuned port car. With only about $3K worth of bolt-ons, she’ll run right up there with a stock tuned port 350…maybe even a tad quicker.

I can narrow it down to power windows, power locks, or speaker wires that caused the fire, unless general motors started jamming Cuisinarts into the doors for some reason.

Uh oh………….I’m gonna be very near there next weekend. Hold me back! I’m towing a friend’s car on my car trailer to the pomona Swap meet. I should have an empty trailer for the run home……………God help me.

This one doesn’t have T-tops, which is considered a plus on these flimsy, leak prone F-bodies. Third gens aren’t for everyone, but I’ve got 250k miles on mine and still feel I’m the king of the road every time I get in it.

I can’t believe BF is still promoting this dirtbag seller. Anyone who is seriously thinking on bidding hopefully you are local. IF not I urge you to read the fine print. It is there only to protect the seller. NOT you. In the long run this ho hum Gen III Camaro can be purchased local in any location without a lot less headache and in most cases you can talk to the owner in person.

    Lets review.

You are required to send payment in full within X amount of days. Please note the buyers fees. There is a scale you will pay depending what the selling price is. You only have one week to pick up this rag. If you can’t arrange within that time frame you will pay X amount per day until it is.

Have your shipper lined up the day you pay.

Please note if you enjoy calling to get information be prepared for me barely speak english. When a problem happens it is always outside the terms of ebays buyers protection. Read into ebays terms and you will see. Each automotive transaction is different. Ebay has their bases covered. You are dealing with an old car. That is the clause.

I know as I had to get ebay involved when my car came with no vin plate and the vin stickers removed after the sale. Then an attorney. I have told this story several times. Pretty ugly.

Muscle car certainly seems to be a VERY general term, last time I checked a 305 was certainly not part of the term muscle car!

Technically, no F body is a musclecar. Pony car? Maybe. Sporty coupe? Yes.
