Driver Quality 1969 Porsche 912

1969 Porsche 912 Driver

A 912 may not be as quick as a 911, but it handles great and can make a fun driver. This clean 1969 Porsche 912 is not perfect, but it’s good enough to use as transportation without feeling too bad about messing anything up. It is located in Alhambra, California and is listed for sale here on eBay with bidding at $5,700 with no reserve.

1969 Porsche 912 Driver Trunk

According to the seller, this car is very original. It has had a re-spray, but luckily in the original color. There is a nasty dent on the hood that may be fixable and the clear coat is peeling on the trunk. We would try to remedy these issues the best we could, but not fret too much over them. The seller claims that all the panels are straight and that it has never been in a wreck. The underside looks just as good as the top in the photos which is a good sign considering how badly these can rust out.

1969 Porsche 912 Driver Interior

The interior looks good here. The drivers seat is worn and the seat bottom is going to need to be replaced soon. We can’t find any other major issue here though, so the next owner should be able to just make small repairs as they go..

1969 Porsche 912 Driver Engine

912s came from the factory with a flat four connected to a four speed gearbox. The seller states that they are original to the car and are in good running order. The mileage is at 169k, so you may want to have the compression checked out because a rebuild may be needed in the near future. Just because it has two fewer cylinders than a 911, it does not mean it will be a cheaper task.

1969 Porsche 912 Driver Side

The blue paint and Fuchs really make this 912 standout. Fix a few things and this should make an affordable 911 alternative. 912 prices have been going up lately so it will be interesting to see where this one ends up.

This is a charming car. Guy at work had a ’67 912, just like this one but in a non-metallic medium green. He had had it for many years and said it was fairly trouble-free. “67 TREE” was the vanity plate.

I like this car. The shape of the older 912/911 has always appealed to me.
