Dusty 1955 Ford Thunderbird

1955 Ford Thunderbird

This 1955 Thunderbird has been parked in a garage since 2002. Doesn’t seem that long ago, does it? Well, that’s 13 years and it’s plenty of time for a car to acquire a thick layer of dust. I love the as-found photos, but boy would I have appreciated a few shots of the car all cleaned up! This Thunderbird appears to have come out of a collection because the seller has listed a few other cars that are parked in front of the same building. I’m also guessing that this Ford was restored at some point and even the seller mentions that the upholstery looks like it has been redone. I wonder why the steering wheel is off though? This car will probably need to be restored again, but these first generation T-Birds are the ones to get and this one even has a relatively rare 3-speed manual transmission. Find it here on eBay where bidding is already taking off. You’ll want to have this one inspected though in order to get a better idea of what you are actually getting.

If I was to buy this car just so I could turn and sell it for a profit, would that be considered “flipping the bird”?

This looks like a nice solid car. I don’t see much to do except it does need a good cleaning. The steering wheel may be off to repair the turn signal switch, maybe. Some pics of the underside would have been nice.

Decent looking car and yes a few shots of it cleaned up would have made a big difference. if the seller wants it gone and at his reserve whatever it is he needs to do a better job at presenting the car. It looks to be a business of some sorts to me. Maybe the steering wheel off is a theft deterrent. The Stingray next to it looks interesting.

there are wordy ads, and then there are those who don’t have enough, it is almost as if he said to himself ” will try e bay, if it sells, it sells” an all white T-bird IS interesting, a la “American Graffiti” ( tho , think that was a 57) and, yes, show it as it came out of storage, but clean the thing up , me thinks he wants a Barrett Jackson price for this unrestored car would be nice to see it when it is completed

The Graffiti car was a ’56 with a port hole top.

Steering wheel off and jumper wires on the seat… looks like this one has electrical issues in the brake/turn signal area. Door panels off… Power window issues?

Also, a car doesn’t have to be filthy to prove it’s been stored for years. WASH IT!!!

I have always thought of these as a “chick” car but the 55 with the manual is the one to have (unless you can get an E or F bird). That said, this ad is horrible. Could he make it more brief?

Looks like the “Dealer” is in Alburquerque by the location of other ads. Beyond me why ANYONE would take the trouble to post a car for sale on Ebay and present it in this fashion. They must have the rudimentary skills to post the ad……why not make it thorough? More details on its provenance and actual condition. Sounds to me like the seller knows absolutely ZIP about the car. Just plain stupid. I don’t get it. But at least its a 3 speed…………..

A friend of mine is a Ford collector. He has 2 huge pole barns full of Ford and Fordson tractors. He says good drivers are never going to be more than $25-30K cars. Ford made too many of them and they aren’t that special. So i would think $15-17K is about tops for this thing.

Nothing like showing off your disrespect for a car by posting a picture in an ebay auction with the wrong side of the Steering Wheel jabbing into the seat covers, sheesh. Quick – somebody grab this car at *some* price, to save any potential it may have from such ethics…
