Ex-Applebee’s Race Car: Porsche 911

Ex Applebee's Race Porsche 911

At one time, this Porsche 911 was raced by Team Applebee’s (as in the restaurant). Once it was retired, this 993 chassis was stripped of all its mechanical bits and is now sitting in the seller’s garage awaiting to be put back together. Listed here on eBay, sitting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with a starting bid of $5,000 and no bids at the time of this writing. As the seller states, “What you see is what you get” so plan on taking a closer look at this former race car.

The owner had planned to find a wrecked donor car and combine the two units and make a complete running car. This is a full fiberglass body with a 10+ point roll cage. Included with the purchase are the lexan rear and quarter windows. You will still need a windscreen and two doors. The owner says that the front end of this car is a clam shell. Included in this package are molds, so you can have new body parts created. There is not a list of which molds are here and/or how many. Do you, will you, have the right to create parts from these molds? The cage is suppose to be worth more than the asking price, which is not revealed. This chassis can be moved with an engine lift (must be light) and you will need to bring a “full size” trailer to take you new prize home. The dimensions of this said trailer aren’t given, maybe 8’x20′?

Cheers,
Robert

I really don’t know what you would do with it. It would cost a fortune to make drivable again. To me it seems like a money pit.

It would have been nice to see some historical photos of the Porsche in the Applebee’s livery. At least the seller was very honest about this car. But, it seems all you can say is, “Huh?”

After doing a little bit of research this is a 1987 chassis. Here is a pic in the old livery. I noticed a guy that I have bought parts from in the past owned this car around 2011 and was selling for around $2,400.00

I was interested until I looked close at the welds/fabrication quality.
