Reader Mark W needs to find a new home for this 1930 Ford Model A, and boy is it a beauty! It was found in a barn, where it spent the past 10 years or so. After giving it a service and a good cleaning, it is looking great now. If you’ve been on the hunt for a Model A that is ready to drive, be sure to make Mark an offer! You can find it in Irwin, Pennsylvania and he has a current asking price of $14,500.
While Ford built millions of Model As, you don’t see too many still on the road in their original format. Add that up to hot rodders and time. It’s been nearly 90 years since this one was built, but as you can see, it doesn’t look that old. The paint and chrome work looks to be in beautiful shape, with lots of gloss. Obviously, it’s an older restoration but it looks to have been done nicely. Mark claims that this one is ready to drive and enjoy as is.
The flathead 4-cylinder engine isn’t a powerhouse or a technological marvel. By today’s standards, it’s quite large for a 4-cylinder though, coming in at 201 cui or 3.3 liters. With all of 40 horsepower, don’t expect to be winning any races, but it’s plenty of power for casual Sunday drives. Mark isn’t sure if it’s the original engine to the car, but chances are that it is. He believes the car has covered 35k miles since new and that actually wouldn’t be surprising. Back when these dominated roadways, no one was going anywhere real fast and chances are you weren’t going cross country in one.
Mark doesn’t know much of the car’s history past the previous owner, as he bought it from their family. They told him that the car was restored about 10 years prior to being parked and that after the owner passed away, it wasn’t driven again as no one in the family knew the proper starting procedure to get it running. Thankfully, it didn’t take much to get it running and it’s probably a good thing that they didn’t try to get it going. It really is in great shape and looks like a fantastic example. So, if you’ve been wanting to experience a stock Model A, this one is ready to be enjoyed. And if you’ve been looking for one to turn into a hot rod, this one could be a good place to start since it is an old restoration rather than an all-original survivor. Honestly, though, we hope the next owner drives and enjoys it as is! You can message or make Mark an offer via the form below.

Yeah, just what we need . One more boring restored model A to go with the millions of others.
Most unusual model A coupe I’ve ever seen. How come the seller doesn’t know he is selling a tudor sedan?
Wow!! What a good example of an A coupe!! This car needs to be preserved the way it is!!!
