Update 7/27/2018 – We just heard from Jerry that the Austin Healey has sold and will be headed off to it’s new home soon!
From 7/25/2018 – So this Austin Healey is going to be a massive project, as a matter of fact, that’s why the owner is letting it go. It’s got serious rust issues and everything is going to need to be restored, but on the upside, it looks complete, comes with the factory hardtop and the seller is asking $1,500! These cars can fetch serious money these days, so I’m sure someone will want to take it on. Jerry believes it would make for a good parts car since it’s so rusty and the title is missing, but if you could track down the title, it might actually be worth restoring. Whether you want to restore it or use it as a parts donor, be sure to contact Jerry via the form below!
What Makes It Special? This is a true barn find 1958 Austin Healey BN6 too far gone for the owner to tackle, good parts car, factory hardtop, matching number, sold on bill of sale.
Body Condition: It’s best described simply as rusty.
Mechanical Condition: Not running, but appears to be all there.
- Asking Price: $1,500
- Location: Tallahassee, Florida
- Title Status: Missing
So, do you think it would be worth taking on a restoration or is this one just too far gone? There are lots of good parts here that could be used to save another car, but it seems like a waste to not restore it. Our thanks to Jerry for listing it with us! We hope we can find a good home for it and that the next owner can do something with it. If you have a project that you just can’t finish and want to move it along, please consider listing it here on Barn Finds!
Well it sure would be a labour of love to restore it. If I was 10 years young I would be willing to take a car like this on. Truth is this car is likely to never be restored but if helps bring another back to life it would be a fitting end.
Based on the asking price the seller knows how difficult this resto would be. Both the hood and trunk surrounds are aluminum, and they can be pretty thin after decades of exposure to moisture or even moist air. They will be pricey to repair—if they can be—or to replace, unfortunately. Then there’s everything else that needs work.
It looks like the moist Gulf air didn’t do this poor Healey any good, but there’s probably enough R&R-able parts to make it worth the asking.
A shame to see it in this condition…through no fault of the seller of course. With all that needs to be done – and that’s bumper to bumper, top to bottom – coupled with the lack of a title, this looks like a parts car. At least the seller knows this and has put a reasonable number on it
Looks like a nice deal to me, – for a guy with a rotisserie and strong welding skills. I used to take on stuff like that in me salad days. Too damn old now- and too damn far away. I don’t see it as all that bad though.
I usually love Austin Healys. But, not this one. Too far gone to suit me. Doesn’t run, no title (good luck with that). Frankly, it looks like it’s been pulled from a swamp.
To bad it’s so far gone! I thought that I just might buy it until I saw the rust! I have been trying to find one, but better shape!
Good parts car. The hardtop is probably worth $1500. I had a 3000 years ago. The hardtop was fiberglass. :-) Terry J
Such temptation, and I’m about 2 hours from Tallahassee. Good thing I have too many rusty projects.
Well I love it.
If that was a 356 or 911 or VW Kombi it would be snatched up in that condition for $1000’s more.
SOLD… too cheap
I have a chassis, cowl assembly and rear clip if the new owner needs them
