What Makes It Special? This trail rig was built for off-roading in the 1980s. To get it down the trail, it was upgraded with a Chevrolet 350 engine and a Chevy truck SM420 transmission. Advanced adapters link the transmission to the stock transfer case. The rear axle has a Detroit locker and the front has an ARB air locker. It also has Power steering, power disc/drum brakes. It has lived most of its life in the Central Valley. Very solid body with one repaint about 30 years ago. The front has a Ramsey winch, heavy duty bumper, custom rear rack with spare, Jerry can holders, and hi-lift jack. The interior has a roll cage with 1985 Toyota Corolla seats, also included is soft top and soft full doors. It runs and drives good. No oil leaks or smoke. Will need some minor electrical work. The gauges, onboard air compressor, and fog lamps currently not working. Heater valve was leaking so I bypassed the line. It’s a nice little project, with all the hard work done to make it roadworthy.
Body Condition: The body is solid with one repaint.
Mechanical Condition: Runs, drives, steers, and brakes well. In last year I’ve replaced the master cylinder, fuel pump, and starter.
These old Toyotas have really gained a lot of interest in the past few years, with a considerable spike in values. Unfortunately, many of them have either been driven to death or rusted beyond reasonable repair. Thankfully, Paul L’s example really does appear to be in solid shape. It shows trail use but isn’t beat up by any means. The respray is a bit of a bummer, but it appears to have been done correctly, as it’s held up well. This could be a great rig to have, so be sure to contact Paul via the form below with your best offer!

Had to scroll through the pictures and enlarge them to see what you guys were talking about. Sure enough! 😱 I have about the same build and overall I’m fairly self confident but I haven’t and probably never will reach that level of self confidence. Lol
