EXCLUSIVE: 1991 Porsche 944 S2 Survivor!

Reader Colleen C has decided to part ways with her rare Porsche 944 S2. Porsche shipped just 442 of these cars to the United States and who knows how many of those were optioned in black with a black interior. This thing is in amazing shape inside and out. Colleen has cared for and enjoyed the car, but she hurt her left leg a few years back and it’s too hard to climb in and out, plus it’s hard to shift when it hurts to clutch. Be sure to take a closer look below and you can give her a call via the number below!

From Colleen – Offering my 1991 Porsche 944 S2 Black Coupe with black leather, hopefully to a collector who will maintain it’s perfect condition. Only 442 Porsche 944 S2’s ever shipped to the US and not sure how many were Black/Black Coupes. Bought new in 1991 from Isringhausen Motors, Springfield, IL with only 82 miles on it. It now has 43,300 miles and only driven by me (very careful female driver). It had the full flush service at Isringhausen’s when it reached 30,000 miles as recommended in the owners manual. Original manual is in the glove box. It has had oil and filter changes every 3,000 miles and always with Porsche filters.

Everything is completely original except a new battery a year ago which is a Delta Max Crank. It is always plugged in with a Porsche battery charge maintainer. It is always stored in my temperature-controlled, humidity-controlled garage and on epoxy flooring. Always covered with padded quilts. It has never been driven in winter or in rain. It has had 1 set of new Pirelli tires that have about 700 miles on them. Have had the car up to 140 once and definitely holds to the road. Speedometor goes to 160. Tough decision to part with but after a broken left leg and steel plate 8 years ago it was difficult to drive a manual transmission. Has not been driven for the past 8 years but has been started and moved forward and back for tire protection. Asking $35,000 & will consider close offers.

While these cars haven’t reached air-cooled 911 money, they are definitely going up in value. Given the condition and the fact that it’s an S2, it seems likely that this one is only going to go up in value. It could prove to be a solid investment, but personally, I’d buy it to drive! How about you?

That certainly is a beautiful, well-cared for car. Colleen must miss driving it.
Not a serious potential buyer at all, but there is a question: Has the timing belt been changed, and when? Even though the mileage is low, 28 years seems to be a dangerously ripe old age for a belt.

Looks like a great $25k car. Prices are just not there yet for the S2, although they are climbing. Belt service etc. Will be $3-4k to get this back on the road, and while mileage is “low,” it is not “collector” low.

3,650 Porsche 944 S2 coupes plus and additional 2,402 944 S2 Cabriolets came to the US over a three year period. Does that impact the price proportionately?

Nice car, I have no clue as to market value, but I’m sure this car will be near the top end of that scale. These were really good looking and have stood the test of time, unlike their first cousin, the 924.

I don’t care about the value. I love this car.

On my way to work this morning, I pulled up next to a very similar car. I like 944s, but cannot justify purchasing one right now. I wish Colleen good luck with the sale!

Colleen… shame on you. Not the original battery? Is the original available ? ( grin ) It is obvious this car was loved and well cared for. It is a tad disconcerting that all the pics are 11 years old. I would have to believe that it is as represented, but current photos may help in your pursuit. In the end, beautiful. I hope both your leg and this beauty get the care and attention they deserve. Good Luck in your sale… I’m sure it will be tough to see it driven away.
