This Impala Convertible has been in the same family since 1963. The seller’s father traded in his ’55 Bel Air on it and ended up driving the car for 10 years. It remained parked until sometime in the 80s when they pulled it out, serviced it, and installed new tires. Then it went back into storage once again. Now the seller’s mother is ready to let it go so they have listed it here on eBay. Bidding ends very soon, but this looks like a great project for a Bowtie fan!
The 348 was the biggest engine option available in a full-size Chevrolet in 1960. There were a few different carburetor options though so I wonder which one is under that air cleaner.
The interior looks amazing considering how long it has sat. The carpet and one door panel have been removed, but they are still with the car.
The tailfins of the ’60 Impala may not be as attractive as the ’59 model, but I still love the looks of these cars. The rust in the rockers may keep it from being a preservation candidate, but I would still try. Stitch up the upholstery, address the rust, and just touch up where needed. This Chevy will be one heck of a cruiser after some work. It even has the dual antennas!
Wind split MIA on driver’s fender, hmm. Means at least one of the front fenders have been changed.
It’s still a good buy for a rag top. Someone will be happy..

IMHO the bidding is already more than the cars worth when you figure it still needs work and being from our great Midwest even the rust and mice find their way in to barns with cars. I like the 59’s better with those cat eye taillights.
I still like the look of the body on these and also the ’59s just like I did when they were new and the neighbor had a brand new one, but agree that $26+K is more than I would want to pay.

This will end up as an over-restored show car.
We see a 59 rag top similar to this at the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge TN that is so shiny and straight that one can see their reflection in the paint. The car is so pretty one can consider it a work of art!
I expect that this one will bring the big bucks, and will be treated to a similar fate.
At least it will be preserved for future generations.
The 59 & 60 wheels looked funny to me . Set way inside the fenders. The only fix was a set of chrome reversed and baby moons.
