We aren’t sure what it is about Woody Wagons that make them look so fantastic, but whatever it is, we love it. These family haulers are becoming difficult to find, especially ones that don’t need all new wood work. This solid 1949 Plymouth Deluxe Woody can be found here on eBay.
The interior in this car is still looking good. We aren’t sure if its original or an early restore, but it shows some signs of wear and tear. These big cars were built to haul the whole family and could easily accommodate 9 passengers. For its time, this car was a luxurious family sedan and has amazing wood working both on it and in it. The majority of this cars wood work looks good, but some of it could use new stain.
This big wagon is powered by Plymouth’s 217 cui inline six, which produced 95 hp. This isn’t a lot of power for a car weighing in at 3,400 pounds, so don’t plan on going anywhere too fast, but the relatively tall 3.90 rear end ratio helps a bit. The seller claims the car is still wearing its original paint and that the car still runs and drives.
There were only 3,443 Plymouth Woodies built in ’49 and there aren’t many left. Given how solid this car is, it could be a great buy for someone in the market for a woody wagon project. The current bid might seem steep for an unrestored family wagon, but these cars can easily top $90,000 for a fully restored car. If bidding doesn’t go up much more, this one could be a great starting point for a project. If you bought it, would you leave it as it is or spend the money to restore it?
~ i like. prefer de`Soto’s but that’s a lot of money to me. others apparently disagree.
Nice car !
A woody that doesn’t look to bad from the top.
WHERE are the underneath shots ???
I hope the little old lady is getting the profit if she’s the previous owner/seller.
If she’s not related to the transaction, who is she ?
Looks like seller is selling average one car per year, that’s if he does not have other seller IDs.
Beware
Dubious sales tactics in my eyes.
