Feathers Edition: 1972 Chevrolet Blazer

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

When it comes to old Chevrolet Blazers, finding one that is rust-free and running is usually the priority. Given how valuable these old square-bodies have become, it’s certainly become far more challenging to get into one of these for anything resembling a low price. And with a rare bird like this 1972 model – one of the elusive “Feathers” editions – it’s certainly not going to be a cheap buy-in. Find this Blazer here on eBay with bids to $21,338 and the reserve unmet.

Now, this Blazer would be desirable enough solely for being an incredibly solid project-grade example without any major rot to sort out or repair. Throw in the factory hard top and rear seat, along with a presumably healthy engine, and you have a recipe for a high sale price. But when you included the added bonus that this is a rare special edition model known for its epic decal kit that amazingly remains intact – well, it’s no surprise that this truck has a lot of interest at the moment.

I think we can all fill in the blanks about what the “Feathers” connection is, and I’m not here to debate the virtues of it. Things happen in certain eras that make sense at the time, and that’s all there is to it. This truck has to be one of the scarce few left that still wears these original graphics and I hope they are preserved for years to come. The 350 appears to be in good order, but the seller doesn’t allude to any recent maintenance or mechanical fixes.

He does mention that the transfer case has been rebuilt, so the Chevy has that going for it. The other thing working in its favor is this incredible interior, which remains in a high state of preservation. Those black bucket seats are a terrific match for the olive green paint, so even the color scheme is a “win” as it relates to this Blazer’s desirability. Throw in the rarity of the Feathers package and you have a truck that is certainly not done attracting bids.

Nice find. However, I’m pretty certain squarebody refers to the 73-87 body style.
Thanks for all the vehicle posts daily.

Those graphics packs were offed on C/Ks and elCamino. Don’t recall being on G-vans.

Pretty lame patch job on that driver’s rear quarter, hard to see at this resolution. This is not a $40k+ K5.

As others noted, this Blazer is not a “square body”. This is the GM truck body style known as the “glamour trucks” from 1967 through 1972.

“Action” Line by company; “glamor” by ‘car guys’. Square and Round body to come later.
This era shuffled in one we’re still in: ‘fancy’ truck, often not used as model evolved to perform (work here) but for ego, ‘taste’, image.
