Update 10/26/11 – The listing has been removed once again…

Update 10/18/11 – The auction had been removed, but is now relisted with more photos and a starting bid of $360,000. The seller is either trying to drum up interest before listing with a major auction house, or realized that it is worth more than they were asking?

Now here is a rare Italian that you do not see everyday. It is an alloy bodied 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada and this one has been hidden away in a garage for over 30 years! The listing claims that this GT only has 24k miles on the clock and that the same person has owned it since 1973. The seller does not include many details, but this is an amazing find. You can view the listing here on eBay with bidding starting at $200 and the reserve not met.

1967 Bizzarrini 5300 Gt Strada Garage Find Engine

This is your chance to own an Italian exotic which is relatively affordable to maintain. The GT came from the factory with a Corvette drive train so finding parts here in the States will be a breeze. The V8 was claimed to put out 365 horsepower and is connected to a four speed manual gearbox. The seller does not even mention if the engine is running, but getting an engine like this running does not scare us at all when compared to the twin cams and V12s installed in this car’s cousins.

1967 Bizzarrini 5300 Gt Strada Garage Find Interior

The interior is classic Italian and looks a little shabby, but might clean up good with a little work. We would love to get behind that wood rimmed wheel and mash the pedal. This has to be a dream to drive with its lightweight body and American V8 up front.

1967 Bizzarrini 5300 Gt Strada Garage Find Side

Here is another shot of that beautiful aluminum body. Bizzarrinis look amazing in person and will turn just as many heads as any Ferrari or Alfa Romeo. It will be interesting to see what this one goes for.

To adjust the distributor, do you still have to remove the windshield? That could get tiring.

That’s one advantage of the Intermeccanica Italia. At least the distributor on a small block Ford is in the front. Bidding is already over $60,000 on this one.

The turkey ended the auction early. Wonder what it went for?

To adjust the distributor you remove a panel on the dashboard. The Intermeccanica Italia is not a race car. The Bizzarrini GT 5300 is a pure 1960s race car and it won its class in 1965 at Le Mans. You can read more about Bizzarrini cars at MyCarQuest.

The rake of the windshield is so steep, that I always assumed you had to remove the windshield to access the panel. No?

Same seller as the three barn “incredible” finds a little while back (the Ferrari Daytona, Dino and Maserati), and same pattern – odd eBay ads that come and go. Bet this ends up at an auction house, just like the first three.
