No Reserve: 1973 Chevrolet Corvette 350 4-Speed

Located in Pompano Beach, Florida, this 1973 Chevrolet Corvette is for sale here on eBay with just under 3 days remaining in the auction. The car is said to retain its numbers matching 5.7 liter V8 engine equipped with a 4-speed transmission.

The gold paint is faded and cracked on the outside and the black interior matches the exterior’s condition. This appears to be an unrestored car with a reported mileage of 73,000 miles on the odometer. However, the seller states that the engine, transmission, and much of the suspension has been rebuilt or replaced.

The car looks like it is probably equipped with the L48 350 cubic inch V8 engine that was rated at 190 horsepower. However, the finned aluminum valve covers were designated for the new L82 350 cubic inch V8 engine could be ordered as an option in 1973.  Buyers could still get the LS4 454 cubic inch V8 in 1973 and 1974.

As most Corvette enthusiasts know, the birdcage on the C3 cars is the most important thing to check. While the seller reports being a Mopar enthusiast, he states the birdcage is super solid. The 1973 Corvette was advertised as a quieter car with a better ride. This car has survived 47 years and it might get a makeover by the new owner.

Be nice if it still had the chrome front bumper but there’s a lot to like here. HP was down at that period due to emissions law changes, but with some careful parts selection, you can have a reasonably priced car that can handle curved roads with a finess. I like it, may take some work but looks like it has good bones.

Weird, in the EBAY ad, seller states no BIN, but top bid is $12,500, ad shows $10,000 with no retracted bids. Psychic? Fortuneteller? Shady? Maybe owner can send me Lotto numbers.

Since this is not an auction with no BIN, he’s talking about people who have either contacted him about ending the auction early because they know it may go above a price they want to pay (it’s also a “no reserve” auction, so if they aren’t the high bidder by even $1 the car will sell). It also could be that it’s advertised locally and that’s his top local offer so far. If he gets his anticipated price, which he’s obviously not revealing to anyone, or the bids don’t get close enough, he’ll just end the auction early and say there was a mistake in the listing and wait a couple of weeks to relist.

Engine is L-82 (VIN Code ‘T’). Also, it appears something amiss with the rear window. They were not removable in 1973

Just looked at the EBay listing. Top bid is $10,700. And that was 32 minutes ago as of me typing this at 1.07 pm Est

Also 5 th digit of Vin is a T denotes L82 if I didn’t already have 2 C3 I would be in the mix if it stayed under 13k.

Never gonna be super valuable but with a light restoration could be a nice cruiser. I will assume by the minced words regarding the AC that it does not in fact work. At 12K its a reasonable buy.
