If you loved classics with massive fins, this ’57 Dodge Coronet has an impressive pair of fins on it! Listed here on Hemmings and parked in Arvada, Colorado with an asking price of $2,950, you make make these fins your own. Josh did a great feature on a similar example here back in March, which offers some great information about these cars. This one is said to be mostly complete, original and an unmolested post car showing just 49,706. The low mileage could be because of the condition of the engine though and you will want to a look at it before making an offer.
There is bad rust on the floors, rockers, trunk and other areas. The owner will sell you replacement floor pans and rockers for a premium though.
As you can see, the engine isn’t looking too good. You might be able to rebuild this engine, but it would probably be easier to just replace it. You can, if you wish, purchase a running 318P/727TF drivetrain from the owner for an undisclosed price.
You will notice the plastic on the seats, is it the plastic from ’57? The owner says that the chrome and stainless is in great condition. He suggests you restore or make this into a NASCAR tribute. Do you think you would like to work on this project?
Cheers,
Robert
Maybe if this was a hardtop or even a 2 door post without the divided back window this would be a worthwhile project.
When I was in college, I worked briefly at the parts dept. of a local Dodge-Plymouth dealer in Queens, NY. The cars were so shoddily built that they practically had to be re-built before they could be sold.
