Grand Grande: 1970 Mustang

1970 Ford Mustang Grande

I remember not caring much for the “Grande” Mustangs when they first arrived—I was never a fan of vinyl roof cars, and was much more interested in the performance-oriented variants. But this seems like a really inexpensive way to get into a classic Mustang; the auction is close to its end and the price isn’t that high and without a reserve. Located in Yerington, Nevada and listed here on eBay, this 1970 is listed with a buy-it-now of $3,000 and bidding that hasn’t met reserve yet at less than $1,100. The original 302 engine isn’t running at the moment but that shouldn’t be too hard to fix, or even swap if necessary. There are some dents, particularly in the driver’s rear fender, but only a little rust. It also needs a LOT of interior help. But the original air conditioning system is still there and I’m sure it just needs a charge (just kidding!). The biggest issue to me is that it only comes with a bill of sale; perhaps one of you Barn Finds readers in a state that only requires a bill of sale may be interested?

great old mustang, not a bad price , the big issue is the rough interior and not running! no telling what it may need to running as long as the motor is not froze up. no title not such a big deal.

Like stated if motor not froze this is a sweet little ride, someone doesn’t pay attention when parking in parking lot looking at those front and back valances, parking cement blocks are notorious for busting front spoilers and valances.

if motor just needed ” some tinkering ” the seller should have done so. with motor not running no test drive and no way to know about trans, diff, etc. still this could be a nice driver. nice find

great potential for not a lot of $$$ fastbacks ( even non boss and mach I s) command big bucks even if they are rust buckets No need for a big block as this was Mustang’s luxury car Recaro Buckets, plush carpet, nice AM/FM/CD radio and good speakers for tunes blackwall radials most likely need to replace the underpinings with a 3K pricetag, you could add all I mentioned and still spend less than a rust bucket fast back
reserve hasn’t been met yet ( as of late Tues Nite) maybe it will be up again

I have to agree with you Jamie,

Its an decent entry level, that’s not overpriced. A little needy interior wise but with smart

investment in time, new parts will yield a real investment that wont hurt you.

    Especially with A/C…

I had a similar 1969 notchback 25 years ago, a clean original that a friends mother purchased new…

My personal “at a glance” rust barometer on the ponies has been the tops of the engine compartment fender wells.

    Also,

It was boring when compared to my 1967 Nova SS and my 1969 SS 396 Chevelle.
    (all owned during high school).

    Needless to say,
I didn’t keep the Mustang long.

But I could have sold a dozen of the Mustang!

    N.H.

Omg. Had this car as a kid in that color with the vinyl roof and herringbone interior . It was my grandfather’s car orginally. Rust bucket but that thing could haul…no defrost, could.not reach the brights button on the floor because I’m too short, had a hole in the passenger side floor the size of a grapefruit, but dang I loved that car. Was hit once. Other car totaled the 1/4 steal didn’t have a scratch. Burnt some rubber but never lost a race. I miss her. Hope shes still out there somewhere restored and humming.
