Grand Old Sled: 1969 Chevrolet Caprice

leftC

If it’s as nice as presented, this Caprice listed here on craigslist near Seattle for $6000 might just be a really good buy for someone. It’s a 350 V8 automatic and is mostly original. The owner has thoughtfully saved the stock bits like the steering wheel valve covers and wheels that were switched out. It’s had a respray at some point and a new vinyl top.

The owner has done a lot of mechanical work since it was pulled out of storage, including a new battery, alternator windshield carpet and shocks. The brakes have been redone, it’s had a tuneup and has a new exhaust system. It could be a nice driver and need little or no work if it’s as nice as it seems.

Would you put some of the original parts back, or would you enjoy it as it is? I’d certainly reinstall the stock steering wheel. Perhaps one might consider upgrading the suspension and converting the 350 to fuel injection.

Its a weird world where forty five (gulp!) years later a run of the mill “Secretary’s car” has been splffed up with a small steering wheel, chrome valve covers , a tach and gauges and some slotted mags. Chaque A Son Gout I suppose….still

I would definitely put the original steering wheel back, and probably install a set of Corvette Rally wheels and just drive it!

Hey Leave it AS IS, Only Problem I Really SEE Is the Exhaust System Looks like it needs a Bit of Work, Other Than that Solid Car. Even if it is a Full Sized Sedan.
