Great Options Fitted: 1967 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup

What a lovely rural scene. Trees? Check. Machinery? Check. Cat? Check. Chevy C-10 with a cow on the roof? Check…WHAT? Yep, I’m not sure what the point of the cow is, but it’s there nonetheless. It is perched on a C-10 that someone really ticked some of the right boxes on, and it could be yours. It is located in Claremore, Oklahoma, and is listed for sale here on eBay.

For the right person, this C-10 is not just a solid vehicle, but that utility box setup is an incredibly handy feature. While the truck itself has a dusting of surface corrosion, actual rust is confined to a spot in the passenger side cab corner. Otherwise, she’s as solid as a rock. I’m not sure what you would choose to use it for now, but I know that it would have made a great tow vehicle for me when I had my race car, because you could store a lot of tools and equipment in those utility boxes.

When I talked about ticking boxes, it was here that I meant most of it. The optional 327ci V8 is backed by a close-ratio 4-speed transmission, and the pickup is also fitted with power steering, power brakes, and factory air conditioning. That all seems like a pretty good combination. The goodies don’t end there, with heavy-duty springs and a Posi rear end for good measure. The great news is that the truck runs and drives, and the owner even encourages serious buyers to come and drive the C-10 to see how good it actually is.

Even the interior has a few boxes ticked. This included additional gauges for oil pressure and amps, a tinted windshield, push-button radio, and green cloth trim. That green cloth trim has copped a hiding over the years, and the seat will eventually need a new cover, although you could throw a blanket over it for now. As for the rest of the interior, it looks like it has remained original and untouched, and a good clean would do it the world of good, along with new carpet. Then you would have a C-10 with a really nice interior that you could truly enjoy.

Bidding on the C-10 has opened at $4,500, and at the time of writing, that’s as far as it has gone. This is one of those vehicles where you could perform a complete restoration, but I would be equally as comfortable with it being left as it is. The addition of all of the options discussed earlier makes this vehicle more desirable than you average ’67 C-10, and I suspect that someone will eventually pay a premium for the pickup. However, it really would be worth keeping an eye on this one, because if bidding doesn’t take off, you could finish up with a great C-10 at a decent price.

I don’t don’t think that is a close ratio 4 speed. Looks like the standard issue truck 4 speed with a granny low.

I’m more of a Ford guy, but I would love to have this one. Cosmetically I would leave it as is.

Great pickup with desirable options. I’d give it a paint job in it’s original color as I’m not a fan of “patina” unless it’s on a Chippendale highboy or a bronze statue. Freshen up the mechanicals and source some OEM hubcaps to give it a nice period stock look. I see there are a pair of rear fenders and a tailgate in the bed that probably came off the truck when the utility body was installed. So the bed could possibly be converted to stock assuming they are included in the sale? This would be a neat, practical rig for a carpenter or plumber to advertise his/her business as-is, though.

It’s not a C-10, It’s a C-20. 8 bolt wheels and look at the first line of the glove box sticker. Neat truck, but I hope whoever buys it realizes they are getting a 3/4 ton, not 1/2 ton.

I noticed that too Mike you beat me to it, and you’d want it to be a 3/4 ton when those tool boxes were Ful. This would be a lot nicer to restore with the factory box back together. This was a work truck so expect the mechanical parts to be heavily worn.

Interesting options on this one. The “close ratio” tranny might be the NP435 with ~4.5:1 low gear. Not exactly close by modern standards, but closer than the SM420 or SM465. Also, this isn’t a C-10. It has 8-lug wheels with lock rings, so either a C-20 or C-30.

A nice find and pretty straight. I’d want some fresh paint though. It could look real sharp without too much work.

Don’t know about the tranny , but I agree on the 8 lug wheels with split rims , C20 or C30.
Also, the bed sides in back are not from this truck . They are later year model, note the side marker lights.

Just looked up some old options codes. Looks like it is the NP435CR, option M28 in the spec sheet, which seems to match the 04M28HQ on the options tag. I’m guessing this wasn’t very common. Kind of an interesting bit of trivia.

Does it include the large stuffed pig? Even without it, this is a great find. I’ve been looking for a 67-72 pickup and if this was local, I’d bid on it.

This beauty would make a great tow vehicle, heavy duty everything. Like the 327 and a/c!! Good luck to the new owner. if you were in the service business this could be a rolling business card! Happy motoring!

    cheers

I’d like to know what the story is with the one behind it.

Factory air on a 50+ year old pickup is almost unheard of, but it is a wonderful plus on this rig. I’m rather skeptical on the close-ratio 4-speed; this one looks like a run of the mill 4 spd. with Granny low and reverse, the same as they made them back in the 50s. I noticed someone suggested an NP 435. Can’t say that I ever saw one in a Chevy. I worked on some larger GM trucks out of the 50s that had NP 5 spd transmissions. I agree with previous comments about it being a C-20. I agree with that; I never saw a pickup with 8 lug wheels unless someone put them on…

The tailgate on the service bed is upside down. Gotta be at least a C-20. I’ve had three of these trucks over the years. Wonder where they might be now.
