Great Race Entrant: 1926 Chevrolet Roadster

1826 Chevrolet Roadster

The auction for this 1926 Chevrolet Roadster may be ending shortly, but I thought it needed a mention because of its interesting past. The seller could have written the worst auction description in history and that is too bad because this old Chevy has lived quite an exciting life. A plate on the back suggests that it participated in The Great American Race back in the early eighties. Today the even is known simply as The Great Race and it’s a long distance rally for cars over 45 years old. I wanted to get this listed before the auction ended so I didn’t have time to do any research on this specific entrant, but I think it would be fun to pick it up and enter in the upcoming race. Find it here on eBay where bidding is at $9k with only 30 minutes left. The car is located in Palm Desert, California and is claimed to run great.

Looks like the auction ended at $9,100 with 16 bids. We may have gotten to this one a little late!

My reaction is ‘what auction description?’ Outside of ‘body is in great shape’ there’s no reference to any condition. Frankly I’m quite surprised it got much more than parts value bids with the lack of info given…

Mark Eusualky I’d side with you a 100% but in this case id roll the dice. Believe it or not the ad states bare essentials – which is all that this little roadster has. No A/C, power steering, brakes, windows, mirrors, locks, ECU, MAF, smog equipment (insert any modern option here). The seller does say it runs great. Ok, so no mention of the lighting – can’t imag it being such a big deal.
