Many of you know that one of my part time jobs is as an independent contractor for Leake Auctions. I drive vehicles for prep, placement, and on the block for bidding. Everything from classics to exotics, lifted to lowered, has seen my foot on the pedal. For the next three days, I’ll be posting some interesting rides for you all to predict what it will sell for. You can find details about the auction here on Leake Cars. So let’s check out some 1970s vehicles!
This 1979 Pontiac Trans Am has original Paint, a 403, all its documentation, and is quite clean.
So what do you think this brown Bird it will sell for?
Her’s a nice little 1973 VW Thing with new paint and engine, plus a cool hardtop.
What do you think this Thing will get?
After a body on restoration, this 1972 Buick Skylark convertible is looking good. It has a Buick 350 and power top.
Is the sky the limit on bidding for this Skylark?
Check out this 1976 Lincoln Mark IV with Light Jade Luxury Group. Miles of green with a 460 that burns lots of green.
How much green will it take to buy this Lincoln?
This 1977 MG Midget is a great color combo, black with houndstooth interior. It’s clean with a few custom touches.
Will this little Midget bring big money? Or will it get passed over for something bigger and faster?
And here’s the 1979 Jeep CJ7 Golden Eagle with a 304 V8, lifted, winch and is dang cool. Will the lift help sell this Jeep?
Look for results and more listings soon. Let’s see those predictions!
Are you going to be at the Dallas auction ?
Yep. Just posting a few interesting rides to see what people think they’ll sell for. Will post results.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
My guesses are:
Trans Am $29000
Thing $20000
Skylark $22000
Lincoln $14000
Midget $6000
Jeep $15000
So whoever gets the closest gets one of those snazzy Barn Find hats?? I think that would get some guesses going….. Hint hint…..
My guesses are:
Trans Am $26,500
Thing $11,500
Skylark $18,500
Lincoln $9900
Midget $3800
Jeep $14,500
If you can get a 2017 Wrangler for $14,500 then I want to know where!!!!! I just bought a 2010 Wrangler Sport, low miles, excellent condition for $18,000.
It’s listed as a 1979 Jeep, not a 2017, but it will probably get close to $20K
Classic Jeep kinda clashes with the modern add ons.
Ditch the big ugly wheels….
T/A 26
Thing 18
Skylark 23
Lincoln 8.5
Midget 5.5
Jeep 24
Since the Jeep is front, center, I’ll complain about that. I would love to find a vintage CJ, but every stinkin’ one, that doesn’t have gaping holes in the frame, are these jazzed up, goofy looking, to me, monstrosities with mombo motors, what is wrong with a basic Jeep, in line 6? Guess I was born too late.
I’ll take a shot.
T/A = 28,000

Skylark = 15,000
Mark IV = 10,000

This has the makings of a great game Corey. Man, that has got to be one good gig working for Leake Auctions! As a bonus for us not that lucky, could you post a photo of the coolest vehicle you get to wheel at the auction? Have a great time and I hope it is as fun as it looks, Mike. Oh, and what’s with the tape on the fuel cap on the Thing? Thanks.

VW THING 11K
BUICK SKYLARK 14.5K
LINCOLN MKIV 8.5K
MG MIDGET 5.5K
JEEP CJ7 GOLDEN EAGLE 21K*
*It’s a Golden Eagle
I think the thing will go $18k it’s done very good. The jeep should hit $15, if it was a shoe box bronco we’d be talking about six figures! The midget at $10 if someone is passionate. The rest of them I’d be surprised at $7k each, I wouldn’t give a $1.00 each!
Correction!
The jeep may hit $15k the fender flairs are a bad fit, gay overplayed rockstar wheels, exhaust is run poorly, aftermarket doors, and stupid stickers on the dash! Looks like somebody went to one of the jeep websites and ordered everything cheap they could bolt on!
My guesses are:
Trans Am $17,750
Thing $6,500
Skylark $11,200
Lincoln $4,500
Midget $5,750
Jeep $11,100
those wheels on the jeep look dumb
