Here’s A 911 You Can Afford!

911j6

Has the 911 bubble got you down? Well, it’s about time you stopped denying yourself the privilege of owning a P-Car. For about $13K US, you can own this 911 Junior found here on eBay in Canada. Even better, it’s powered by a Honda engine to eliminate those pesky maintenance issues older Porsches are famous for and it’s even been stored securely in a German basement for 30 years!

Obviously, sarcasm is not a foreign language to me. I can actually see more value in this than a rusted-out 356 or 912 selling for the same money. Why? Because if you’re of the means to have this be either the crown jewel of a scale model collection or a gift for your spoiled offspring, you’re at least using it. It has immediate value as either garage art or putting a smile on a child’s face.

We’ve seen a few of these pop up over the last few months in different forms and the story has been markedly similar: issued by Porsche in limited quantities in the 80s, collected and stored in a secure environment with little to no use. Clearly, the rise in Porsche values is encouraging collectors to unload the trinkets and treasures they’ve acquired over the years and who can blame them? Better to cash in now then to try and peddle an elaborate go-kart when the bubble bursts. This 911 Junior actually has a Honda 4-stroke on board with a 2-speed transmission, working clutch, and disc brakes.

If I had the means (and the space), I would love to own a motorized sports car in miniature. It would certainly be different than some old tin gas station signs and even the kids would love it. But, I can’t see ever spending more than I’ve spent on a single one of my project cars to own a conversation piece. Do you think someone will spend over $10,000 to own this baby 911?

No doubt someone will buy this. There are just too many people with way too much money out there.

For ME coming up with the money and AFFORDING it are two very separate concepts LOL.

This is very local to me so if someone wants eyes on it I’d be happy to check it out.

Seen one when new as a kid, it was red, shiny… and more expensive than my dad’s real car :/.

Worth it and someone with too much lunch money will buy it.

You’re sure not. I don’t get it either. It’s gotten to the point where I expect to see people selling Matchbox toys for insane prices, just because it’s shaped a bit like a 911.

The seller says there were about 200 of these built and that the Porsche factory built them. Amazing, but I guess as a seller of high end sportscars you’d have an interest in bringing the next generation into the hobby. It does look cool, especially if you were 5 years old and your father had a real one.

I’d love to call the seller and find out more about it, both company and family history. Unfortunately I’m certain to loose it when I ask if I could drive it home… ^_^

The only rear drive cars I can relate to are Corvairs.

My kids own several, they are fun and we usually take them to car shows with great results. People at car shows are amaze of the details on the cars and kids love to take pictures in them.
