After being tucked away in storage for 20 years, this tidy example of a ’39 Pontiac Deluxe is up for sale. Previously owned by a school teacher who used it as a daily driver around town, this Pontiac had its engine rebuilt around the year 2000. With around 100 miles on the engine, this Pontiac is believed to have 95,829 original miles. Beautiful, but in need of some work, this Pontiac is currently bid up to $2,918 with the reserve not met. Take a look at this clean Pontiac here on ebay out of Bellingham, Washington.
A bit difficult to see, the flat head 6 cylinder engine looks to wear relatively recent paint, and all of the hoses, wires, and belts appear fresh. There is no word as to whether the fuel or coolant has been drained, but it would seem this engine would be easy to revive. The only major concern with running the engine is that there are some bare wires under the dash according to the seller. My guess would be that some mice nibbled the sheathing off of the wires. A wiring harness is included with the car, to aid in putting this beauty back on the road. Beyond that, I am certain the brake system and fuel system will need some assistance as well.
Very well maintained, the interior of this car is an absolute treat. There is some wear to the velour like fabric on the upper portion of the door panels. Overall the velour like upholstery is in excellent condition with no rips or extensive damage to report. The faux wood dash is a bit weathered, but it still has such a charming appearance. The gauge panel is beautifully clear, and none of the gauges are discolored or damaged in any way.
It is unclear if the exterior has been repainted, but the paint work looks nice, to driver quality. There appears to be no rust in the photos, and the bright work looks straight and brilliant. There is no evidence of any body damage, and from the photos, the body panels appear beautiful and straight. With a potentially low price for this very clean car, hopefully someone will meet the reserve to take on ownership of this lovely deco era machine. Would you take the gamble on this clean Pontiac?
Beautiful
Simple math should have been done, before the ad was placed.
Quotes from the ad.
“The car has been in storage for more than 20 years”
“Approximately early 2000 the engine was rebuilt. Since rebuilding it there might be about 100 miles on it.”
It’s now 2017 .
So how big was their storage facility that they could put a hundred miles on the car without it leaving the building?
I get a kick out of it when sellers can’t keep their lies straight.
Don’t be so critical. There is probly more to the history and does it really matter? Fact is its pretty dang nice for its age. And for the price if it stays low, a real deal.
It does matter *somewhat*, as it could cast doubt on the engine being rebuilt at all… or if it was really in storage more than a couple years… could be hidden rust everywhere… basically, once the story falls apart, everything else is thrown into question.
I agree it’s a nice car. I would love to have it. But I believe “the devil is in the details” and details matter when buying a car you haven’t inspected for yourself. I’m sure people pic apart my ads when I place one.
Beautiful rare car. Hopefully it will be kept intact.
Looks like it would a good MOD project, the body is in great shape…
I don’t buy the unable to start story either. It is simple to isolate the engine electrical wiring from a car of this age and start it. Any 14 year old boy could have done this 50 years ago. I have started more than my share of engines laying on the ground. Either they are liars or too stupid to know. The older I get I believe more often than not it falls on the stupid AND lazy side of the spectrum. The know nothing generation except they want big bucks for something they are totally illiterate about.
I will not put a 400 or 455 in this one keep it original !!
