The seller of this 1964 Comet suggests turning it into an A/FX replica. I don’t think it warrants that level of cutting! Thanks to reader Charles H. for this find being sold here on eBay, where the buy-it-now is $2,100 but lower offers are being considered. The car is located in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, despite having older Maryland license plates. The seller says it’s been off the road since 1986 and the floors and quarter panels are rusty. Apart from that information and that it has an inline 6 and an automatic, there’s little else we can discern about the car from the ad. Does this limited information make you want to know more? And can anyone tell me for sure that it’s a Glaspar or Woodhill Wildfire in the background of one of the pictures?
Oh, IDK, I’d fix it up stock. These 2 door Caliente’s were scarce to begin with ( because most were turned into drag cars) and to see one stock, is a treat. Looks like the engine compartment was under water, or something, pretty rough, but again, these are nice cars, and they didn’t have those awful stacked headlights the next year. If anything, make a Cyclone out of it. Hemmings only shows 1 ’64 Comet Caliente ( with a 427), so they are rare.
your comment made me look again at pics of the engine, I think what you are seeing is a 51 y/o car that hasn’t had care in a long long time . also with my second look yeah, the paint could use a redo , since the body is being redone, may as well do a repaint. the 6 cyl of old were a joke very underpowered this would have been the family sedan I hope someone saves it
It looks pretty tired to me, if I were to ” modify” it , it would not be an AFX clone . I am more on the side of a sleeper look ( always have been) even though the Cyclone could be had with the 390, it would be too nose heavy I am admittedly not that knowledgeable when it comes to resurrecting this thing I would go along with keeping a small block 8 in it and keep an automatic that maroon paint should come back with rubbing compound and, or wax, but with all the body work, might just as well do a repaint bench seats, column automatic will look unsuspecting at cruises ,, then watch it hot foot!! . I hope somebody brings it back to life
