The paint is peeling on this old Auburn but perhaps there’s hope. It’s listed on eBay in Altamonte Springs, Florida. It is likely an older restoration rather than a survivor as the seller describes. The BIN of $23,500 seems high for a non running car that has an average retail of about $20,000. It looks like it might be complete but really needs paint and interior work to even be a driver. The hood ornament is missing but it’s on the floor in the back.
The seller describes this interior as amazing but I don’t see that. However it seems to be in pretty good and usable condition. While not all original and not in great shape, a good cleaning would help a lot.
It ran when parked, but doesn’t run now, of course. Hopefully it’s just the usual fuel system cleaning, carb rebuild and ignition work.
The paint is peeling nicely off the primer in places, suggesting perhaps this Auburn needs to be completly striped and repainted. It will take some work and money to make this a driver. It will be interesting to see how much our readers think this Auburn might be worth and what they would do with it.
I like it. Auburn was really a mid line car in the day. Many today think it was in the Cadillac/Packard class but it was not. This is one reason why, when people hear the word Auburn, they think, a big dollar car today. Folks are used to hearing the words, Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg today. 23k for a non running late 20’s Auburn sedan is a bit off. This car will sell for 15k. If it was a speedster, that is another story….
