From Patrick C – I just wanted to send in a couple of pictures I took at a local antique auto salvage yard that has been open here in Tennessee for over 50 years. It’s a hidden masterpiece! I can’t give out the name because it’s a small operation only open for a couple hours on clear Saturdays in the morning so he can’t handle a flood of people. I just love the site and had to send these in. There are some interesting vehicles out there. Even a 1947 Hudson truck, very rare and sitting on the side of a mountain!
Honestly, it’s a beautiful thing to see in real life. I’ve been going since I was probably 9-10 years old it’s all on the side of a mountain with steep dirt roads cut out to get the cars in and out it’s like going on a hike but it’s so worth it to see all of these classics!
You just don’t find junkyards quite like this one anymore. Between regulations and issues with supply, places like this are a dying breed. We are just grateful to see that there are a few still out there and that Patrick was able to capture such great photos of this place! What my old buddy, the late Leroi ‘Tex’ Smith, would call a ‘Vintage Tin National Monument’.
He’d suggest people go out and visit these places to find projects material. My buddies and I would regularly visit such sites during our travels.

Mc.brides junk yard in Granville Utah is closing selling all cars crush date June 15th
I’ve driven by the McBrides junkyard a couple of times, not recently and while I’ve never owned or restored a car, it would be sad to see all these cars crushed. Here’s an article from Hemmings last week:

Always fun to walk thru and look and look and look some more. I was at a yard two weeks ago and they said go ahead and walk around. I could not believe the cars, trucks, old gas pumps, and on and on. Then I was on my way out because it was closing time and I got a view of a lower part of the yard. All old Classic’s, I talked to the owner and asked if I could come back to look some more. I told him I am member of Barn Finds and ask if I could take pictures when I come back and he said O.K. I did find a windshield for my 65 Rambler while I was there. When I get back there I will have a lot photo’s.

I’ll try to get there to take a lot of pictures in a week or so. The owner said ” some things are for sale and some are not”. There’s also lots of semi trailers and school buses full of old parts. There are a lot of gas pumps, just from what I saw standing outside and in the office. Don’t know how many are in all the other buildings. GP

No doubt the reason why these vehicles have been there this long unsold which will continue to sit and rot away.
Could it be that he is just seeing what cars produce the most interest so he can go buy them and then flip them at a much increased price? Just looking to take advantage of true enthusiasts so he can make a quick buck.
Come on guys, chill out. I don’t think Patrick is interested in buying and flipping any of these vehicles. After chatting with him, I think he’s far more excited about getting his photos out in front of so many other car nuts. Rather than hate on him, enjoy the photos and be grateful that someone at least documented the place. And if he does flip them, so what. It’s better than letting them rust away!
I’m a little curious though. Are you guys really interested in buying any of these cars/trucks/parts? And if so, are you wanting them to actually restore/use or are you wanting to flip them for a quick buck?
If only I had a magic wand … there’s a few gems in this photo shoot that I’d love to bring back … the Chevy2 wagon .. the Lincoln .. the Hudson .. the Galaxy … and is that a Hudson pickup? ..,, to dream!

Yes, Josh. I am interested in the Hudson Pick Up to restore, drive, show, and enjoy. But he is unwilling to facilitate contact with the owner. Why?
It’s in Bristol Tennessee, it was known as B&R auto salvage. It’s off of Hickory tree road if you turn right going up 421 highway. I last spoke to the man that owns it probably 2019/2020 and he had closed it permanently and all of these cars still sit up on the mountain. To my knowledge the junk yard wasn’t permitted so I didnt/don’t want to get them in trouble or God forbid have the epaulets come in and make him crush all of these treasures. But no I wasn’t just being stingy with the location. All that being said the owner was very short and rude last I spoke I was looking for some parts and was clearly not interested in selling me anything.
I see lotsa Hudsons, but also lotsa decay (especially for Tenn.). Probably the damp air of the mountains, but I sure would like to get lost there some Sat. Thanks for sharing.

There is a yard like this in my area. Ma. At least 250 cars and trucks. I picked over this 58 belvedere as I have a 58 fury, christine. I’ll send more pix to barnfinds soon.
Henry, great that you can send more pics but what we want to know is, are the cars for sale, where are they, how do we get there and is the owner willing to sell? Pics might be interesting but we can get a million off the internet, we want to buy the cars, or at least parts from them, if we can’t, what’s the point of the pictures ? It’s like hanging a carrot on a string in front of a donkey!

I am planning a trip back to TN, would also like to see the yard in person. The number of people that would actually show up to a place like this is minimal. Look at the Mcbrides place in Utah. I know him. Even after all the publicity and practically begging folks to get over there….nobody actually shows up! I am happy to “PM” you, just let me know the best way. Thanks
