Like New: 1965 Porsche 356 SC

Based on Porsche’s engineering approach of continual improvement, it is no surprise that the last of the 356 models, the 356 SC, was the most modern and well equipped of the series. Most of these have had lots of use by a succession of owners, not all of whom lavished care and attention on their upkeep. A low-mileage, one-owner 356 SC in near-showroom condition must be one of the rarest Porsches of all. Find this one-owner SC with only 50,752 miles here on eBay.

This car’s last owner was an 89-year old sports car enthusiast who had purchased the car new from Bob Grossman’s dealership in Nyack, NY on March 24, 1965. Grossman specialized in sports and GT cars, and frequently raced what he sold at local and international tracks, including Sebring and Le Mans. This car has spent its life in NY, reportedly never having been driven in rain or snow, and which has been garaged throughout its life.

Other than some minor touch up, the Togo brown paint is said to be all original. These 356 SCs had disc brakes front and rear, and dual air inlets for cooling the engine, which reflects the higher level of development and increased power of the SC engine.

The interior appears original except for a large vintage SW radio below the glove box. The fact that the owner took exceptional care of the car is apparent in the car’s excellent overall condition, and in small details like the clear plastic material that was added to keep the carpeting on the sills looking new.

Although the photography doesn’t do the car justice, a close look at the photo of the engine compartment shows the care that went into its maintenance. The car’s history is supported by the original bill of sale and window sticker, as well as the owner’s manual, service booklet, and a complete tool kit. This one-owner low-mileage 356 is truly a car that does not come along very often, and may be one of the last chances for someone to experience what owning a nearly new 356 SC was like.

Almost $100k and over 5 days left. I think this is worth every penny of whatever they get.

Would love to see this car in person someday. Any idea if it has turned up at any shows or exhibits since being sold in 2012?
